The Protective Bear

The sasaeng incident was a terrifying experience for everyone in BTS, but the anti-fan attack on RM was a stark reminder of the dangers they faced. It happened late one night when Namjoon decided to take a solitary walk near the dorms to clear his mind after a grueling day of rehearsals and meetings. Despite their security precautions, he felt the need for some fresh air and a moment of peace.

As he walked through a quiet street, lost in thought, Namjoon didn't notice the group of anti-fans lurking in the shadows until it was too late. They surrounded him, their faces twisted with malice and hatred. Namjoon tried to remain calm, to talk his way out of the situation, but their anger was palpable.

One of them shoved him hard, causing him to stumble. Another threw something at him—an insult, a threat, a reminder that not everyone adored BTS. Namjoon's heart raced as he tried to fend off their blows, his mind racing with fear and disbelief. Just as things were about to escalate, security arrived, and the anti-fans scattered into the night.

Namjoon returned to the dorm shaken but physically unharmed. The other members were horrified when they saw the state he was in. Taehyung, in particular, was distraught. He immediately clung to Namjoon, his eyes wide with fear and concern.

"Hyung, are you okay? What happened?" Taehyung's voice trembled as he examined Namjoon for injuries.

Namjoon forced a reassuring smile, though he was still shaken. "I'm fine, Tae. Just a little scared. It's over now."

But for Taehyung, it wasn't over. The fear of losing Namjoon, of seeing him hurt, haunted him. From that night on, Taehyung became inseparable from Namjoon, his protectiveness growing with each passing day.

At breakfast, Taehyung made sure to sit right next to Namjoon, his eyes constantly darting around as if expecting another attack. He followed Namjoon into the studio, sitting close by as Namjoon worked on music. During rehearsals, Taehyung stayed near, always within arm's reach.

"Hyung, do you need anything?" Taehyung would ask, his voice filled with concern.

Namjoon appreciated Taehyung's concern, but it also puzzled him. Taehyung had always been affectionate, but this was different. It was almost as if Taehyung was afraid to let him out of his sight.

The rest of the members noticed Taehyung's behavior and were both amused and concerned. Jin chuckled at Taehyung's insistence on sitting beside Namjoon at every meal. "Looks like Namjoon has a new bodyguard," he teased, ruffling Taehyung's hair.

Jimin and Jungkook found it endearing and often snapped pictures of Taehyung's constant proximity to Namjoon, giggling as they did. "Our protective TaeTae," Jimin would say, nudging Taehyung playfully.

Even Yoongi and Hoseok, who were usually more reserved in their reactions, couldn't hide their smiles. Hoseok patted Taehyung on the back during a break in rehearsals. "You're doing a great job looking out for Namjoon, Tae," he said with a grin.

Despite the amusement, there was an underlying respect for Taehyung's dedication. The incident had shaken them all, a stark reminder of the dangers that came with their fame. But it had also brought them closer, reinforcing the bond they shared.

_______________

One evening, after a particularly long practice, Namjoon decided it was time to address Taehyung's behavior. They were back in their dorm, the rest of the members scattered in their rooms. Namjoon found Taehyung in the kitchen, making a cup of tea.

"Tae, can we talk?" Namjoon asked, leaning against the counter.

Taehyung looked up, his expression wary. "Sure, hyung. What’s up?"

Namjoon took a deep breath, choosing his words carefully. "I've noticed you've been...clingy lately. Following me everywhere, always checking on me. Is everything okay?"

Taehyung's eyes widened, and he looked down at his hands. "I'm just worried about you, hyung. After what happened... I can't stop thinking about it. What if something worse happens next time?"

Namjoon's heart ached at the vulnerability in Taehyung's voice. He stepped closer, placing a hand on Taehyung's shoulder. "Tae, I appreciate your concern. I really do. But you don’t have to protect me all the time. We have security, and I can take care of myself."

"But hyung," Taehyung protested, looking up with tear-filled eyes, "I can't help it. I care about you. I don’t want anything to happen to you."

Namjoon pulled Taehyung into a hug, holding him tightly. "I know, Tae. I know. And I care about you too. But you need to take care of yourself as well. You’re wearing yourself out worrying about me."

Taehyung clung to Namjoon, his body trembling with emotion. "I just... I just want to make sure you’re safe. I don’t know what I’d do if something happened to you."

Namjoon stroked Taehyung’s hair, his own eyes misting over. "I’m not going anywhere, Tae. I promise. But you have to trust me. We’ll get through this together, okay?"

Taehyung nodded against Namjoon’s shoulder, the tension in his body slowly easing. "Okay, hyung. Together."

As the weeks passed, Taehyung's protectiveness gradually became less intense, though he still stayed close to Namjoon. The other members, while concerned for Taehyung's well-being, understood his fear and tried to support both him and Namjoon as best they could.

During one of their team meetings, Jin brought up the subject, his voice gentle but firm. "We all need to make sure we're looking out for each other, especially now. Tae, it's great that you're so protective, but remember that we’re all here to support Namjoon too."

Yoongi nodded in agreement. "We've always been a team. We'll get through this together, just like everything else."

Jungkook, ever the youngest but wise beyond his years, added, "We can’t let fear control us. We need to be strong for each other."

Their words helped ease Taehyung's anxiety, and he began to find a balance between his protectiveness and his own well-being. He still stayed close to Namjoon, but he also allowed himself to relax, knowing that his hyungs and their team were there to support them both.

One night, as they prepared for bed after another long day, Namjoon found Taehyung waiting outside his room again. This had become a common occurrence, Taehyung seeking reassurance before they both turned in for the night.

"Come on in, Tae," Namjoon said, holding the door open.

Taehyung entered, sitting on Namjoon’s bed with a small, shy smile. "I just wanted to say goodnight, hyung."

Namjoon sat beside him, his heart full. "Goodnight, Tae. And thank you."

Taehyung looked puzzled. "For what?"

"For caring," Namjoon replied, his voice soft. "For being here for me. It means a lot."

Taehyung’s eyes sparkled with emotion. "Of course, hyung. I’ll always be here for you."

Namjoon smiled and pulled Taehyung into a hug. "And I’ll always be here for you too."

As they sat there, the room quiet and peaceful, Namjoon realized that despite the chaos and fear, something beautiful had come out of it. Their bond, already strong, had become unbreakable. They had faced the fear together, and they had come out stronger on the other side.

The anti-fan attack was a reminder of the dangers that lurked in their world, but it also reinforced the importance of their friendship, their brotherhood. Namjoon knew that no matter what happened, they would always have each other’s backs. And that was more than enough to face any challenge that came their way.
