With a questioning look, Neelesh and Indira approached Nishita, their curiosity clear. Nishita shook her head slightly and ushered them in. As they entered, Bittu barked happily and followed them closely, his tail wagging furiously.

Nishita could clearly see through Jagdish. Though he'd acted indifferent for months, she knew he ached to see his mother. Yashoda was the only one he'd ever confided in a bit, and their bond had always been unique. Jagdish's gruff demeanor hid a deep yearning for the solace and connection only his mother could offer.

Despite Nishita's growing confidence in understanding Jagdish, she knew better. No matter how close she felt to him, a mother's love held an irreplaceable power. Yashoda was the anchor in Jagdish's life, the one person who made him feel unconditionally loved and valued.

Nishita recognized a deep yearning in him to mend their fractured relationship. The rift had festered for too long, inflicting a silent pain on both of them. Their stubborn pride, a wall they'd each constructed brick by agonizing brick, was the only obstacle separating them. In truth, they were two halves of a whole, their bond an undeniable force in their lives. She had decided to see them bridge the gap, a simple act of humility and understanding the only key needed to unlock the love that flowed beneath the surface.

Well, this pregnancy did bring her Jagdish the happiness he ever wanted in his life.

"Why on Earth didn't you mention that Maa's coming over today?" Jagdish questioned, pulling Nishita closer.

Her mischievous grey eyes sparkled like stars as she squirmed, trying to wriggle free, but he only tightened his grip around her waist. She wiggled like a slippery eel, giggling uncontrollably, her laughter filling their bedroom.

She pouted dramatically, "It's been months since I last saw your baby face scrunch up like the crybaby you are. I needed some good entertainment in my life, you know," she teased, winking. "That's why I invited Maaji over."

"Crybaby?" His eyes narrowed as a challenge flickered in them. "So, you're saying I keep crying, huh?"

Nishita responded, batting her lashes teasingly. "I didn't call you a crybaby per se; I meant to say you cry like a baby. There's a difference."

"Ah, I see." He leaned in closer, his lips brushing gently against her cheek before trailing down to her neck. "I cry like a baby, do I?" His voice was laced with a hint of seduction.

"Jagdish... Please..." she whispered, a shiver coursing through her as he gently nibbled at her jawline. "They might hear us..."

"Well, they probably already know what their kids do behind closed doors," he chuckled softly. "What's there to hide?"

"So shameless!" Nishita swatted his chest. "I might just have to let Maaji know that her Sher isn't quite the Purushottam Sriram she believes him to be."

"Hmm..."

He didn't mind. His attention wasn't swayed by her words; instead, he was focused on eliciting a soft moan from her lips. He skillfully maneuvered his fingers, tracing a tantalizing path below her navel, relishing in the shiver of anticipation that rippled through her body. Well... He never aspired to be Purushottam if it meant he couldn't be dirty with his wife.

--

"I love you," Jagdish murmured softly, as he tenderly pressed his lips to her bare bosom, letting the warmth of his kiss convey the depth of his affection.

Ten days.

Ten days after Nishita had dropped the pregnancy bomb, Jagdish still couldn't fully grasp the reality that the love of his life was going to be a mother. Initially, he had been ecstatic, but as the days passed and reality settled in, he began to realize that perhaps he hadn't thought things thoroughly. He was undeniably happy, seeing Nishita's eyes sparkle with genuine joy... But a nagging guilt lingered in his mind. Had he been impulsive? Should he have been more thoughtful rather than being swept away in the wave of the moment?

Nishita was still so young, with a promising career and numerous achievements ahead of her. Motherhood, he feared, might hinder her progress, and Jagdish couldn't shake the feeling he should have considered this more deeply. All week, he'd wanted to talk to her, share his anxieties, but the constant bustle around them, Nishita caught up in a whirlwind of exam preparations, had made finding a quiet moment impossible

Maybe tonight would be the night he finally got the chance.
