THE GODS WERE CRUEL. As if the winter chill was not enough to dampen the mood of one particular demigod; some idiot of her kind decided to go after a Manticore.

So, obviously someone had to go and fix that mess up. That person was Ashlyn.

It was safe to say the girl was annoyed. It was cold, dark, dangerous and right after she picked up some godly hot chocolate...she was summoned. Don't get her wrong, Ash loved Artemis but there were time when she thought her presence was unnecessary to the Hunters.

Turn out she wasn't called on the battle, she was on damage control duty. It was at least better than trying to shoot in the snow.

She ever so slowly trudged up the hill to get to the commotion. Five demigods and obviously the Hunters. And one annoying monster.

She watched from the sidelines of the battle, sipping her drink idly. The silver arrows, the opposite colour of her own, rained down upon the Manticore.

Bored by the replay if the same battle over and over. Time and time again, they had fought monsters before and there was only one end for the Hunters. Victory. She mentally starts making a list of the demigods.

Okay, so, ooh damn. That looks like that hurt. Yikes. Okay so five demigods, one looks smart, two siblings, oh Thalia- I swear wasn't she a tree?- Oh and one idiot it seems.

And at the very end, Artemis appeared and did her thing. The stupid Manticore actually thought he could escape the wrath of a goddess using...rules.

She observed the demigods reactions to the arrival of her friend and was just about to take another sip of her drink when disaster struck.

They were victorious but not without it's price. The Manticore had dragged along one of the demigods with him down a cliff.

Well, five-shit- well...four demigods to take care of.

Oops. She should be fine... right?

She watched as the 'idiot' ,as she referred now to the raven haired boy, run to the edge with despair
"Annabeth!' he tells out in complete shock of the loss, for a moment Ash almost fell sorry for him and was taking a step forward to go and comfort the distressed demigod when she realised something.

Her attention was momentarily diverted when she realised she had missed a key piece of the battle. There was enemy overhead as well, a helicopter now daring to fire guns at the groups. She watched as the Hunters advanced and scattered as the bullets rained upon the ground next to their feet. To be fair they blended in pretty well with the snow, with their silver ski parkas and jeans.

That is when Artemis stepped forward
"Mortals," she announced "are not allowed to witness my hunt."

She thrust out her hand and the helicopter exploded into black birds - ravens which then melted away into the night sky.

Ash snorted quietly as she watched the ravens fly away.

The battle was a quick victory, but not without the lack of wisdom. A missing demigod, confused newbies, an angry idiot, a very angry Thalia and Zoë.

How lovely.

That's when she learned the importance of damage control. Breaking up fights and stopping idiots from being idiots.

"You" Zoë Nightshade stopped as she glared at the raven haired girl.

"Zoë Nightshade." Thalia's voice trembled with anger "Perfect timing as usual."

The two glared at each other for an awkward minute when Ash decided it was time to intervene.

"Thalia!" She flung herself onto her old friend. She was met with a warm embrace. Thalia Grace was a dream in Ash's mind. Nostalgia at its best, like fine wine. The daughter of Zeus was a moment frozen in time, a tree if you shall say, a forgotten childhood memory that resurfaces years later. She was alive.

She felt people's eyes on her but right now she didn't care. This meeting was long overdue. She felt the older girl pull away and look down upon her. Thalia and Ash were not sisters but they might as well have been.

She finally pulled away as Zoë was telling Artemis "Five demigods and a satyr, my lady."

Artemis' gaze softened as she looked at the group "Yes" she gently said "some of Chiron's campers, I see."

"Annabeth!" the boy yelled "you have to let us save her!"

Ash looked at him and has a sudden wave of jealousy for 'Annabeth'. This boy would clearly go to the ends of the world to find her. And when he did, he would help her through whatever wreckage she was in, even through breaking cities and dying worlds.

She was so absorbed in her thoughts she did not notice the current situation until the boy was pinned down by some of the girls.

"You are in no condition to be hurling your self off cliffs." Artemis said

"Let me go!" he yelled "who do you think you are!"

"Percy" the satyr said pleadingly, his eyes begging the boy to tell him to ,in the politest way, shut up.

That's when all of Ash's hopes died.
Died, dead, RIP them.
Burnt, to ashes.

The gods are cruel.

Just her luck as it seems, the infamous Percy Jackson.
The son of the sea god.
Was an idiot.

Zoë stepped forward, ready to smack Percy.

"No" Artemis ordered "I sense no disrespect, Zoë. He is simply distraught. He does not understand."

Ashlyn Roy had never groveled before but at that moment she was ready to drop to her knees at her friend's kindness. Normally, if anyone dared to talk to her as such she would have them turned into antelopes or deer. She had spared this boy for some reason and Ash suspected it was to do with her.

"I am Artemis." Her friend declared "The Goddess of the Hunt, and Ash over here as been searching for you, Percy Jackson, for a very long time." Artemis gestures to the girl who gave her a side eye that spokes volumes of how she felt at the moment.

Lovely, that makes it seem like I'm obsessed with him.
Ugh, as if.
