I walked ahead ignoring the two men behind me.
"Elizabeth" Beau stopped me before we got to the desk.
"What?" I turned around.
"We need to talk about this" he said gesturing the building.
I sighed.
"Let me talk" The lawyer said.
"Yeah, let him talk" Beau said. "we all know how you get when you want your way"
"Was that supposed to be funny?" I blinked at him.
"Tell me everything about this guy"
"Well, his name is Christopher Jones. He was homeless most of his life. He lived on his own. Worked two jobs." I stated. "he might've looked like a badass but he would never hurt you. He didn't bother anyone. He was the only one I had left so that's why I want those motherfuckers to sink in prison"
"Calm down" Beau tried to calm me down by putting his hand on my shoulder.
It wasn't helping. It was annoying me.
"What was he for you?"
"The last one in my family. He was the one who took me after many things happened" I answered.
"Alright, well I'll see what I can do with this information"
He walked off and I was left with Beau. I found myself staring at his ass and I think Beau noticed so I looked somewhere else.
"How have you been?" Beau asked.
"Happy" I answered with annoyance.
"All I'm trying to do is catch up"
"Well don't! After this we won't see each other" I looked at my phone.
"Sorry we le-" I cut him off.
"I don't care. Just drop it!"
"Okay so they have court next week so we will have to go. You have to get evidence of his job, work, friends, good evidence that Christopher wasn't a bad guy like you said"
I nodded my head.
"Is that all?" I asked.
"Yeah"
I nodded again and began walking out the doors.
"I'm not even going to get a thank you?"
"You haven't done shit! Why would I say thanks? I'll give you my Thanks when they are in prison"
"Still stubborn" he said quietly seeming like he didn't want me to listen.
"And you're the still jerk" I continued walking.
"Elizabeth. Shit. Sorry I didn't mean it" he tried to stop me.
"Don't ever fuckin' touch me, Luke" saying his name after so long felt weird.
I saw Beau standing behind us awkwardly.
"Alright. See you next week. If not whatever, have a nice life"
"Get yourself a different fucking lawyer because I'm not helping you for shit!" He said angrily.
"Can't get one job done as usual" I walked towards my car.
I kicked the tire a couple times and opened the car door. I got in and slammed the door shut.
He just pisses me off.

Well. I should be used to it but I can't.
I know Elizabeth needs someone because she's broken inside but she has so many walls built up.
"You need to get your shit together and forget about your past with her. You need to fucking help her because I don't know if you remember but he was always there for her" I said as Luke and I walked to our cars.
I saw her car pulling out the parking space.
Her car was old and rusty.
"I can't fucking work with her"
"Luke you're not a teen anymore. get your shit together"
"I know that" he answered while he unlocked his car.
"good to be on the same page. You do your job. You owed me and this is what you do" I said.
"See you Sunday?" Luke changed the subject.
"You're coming?" I asked.
"Yeah, Family is more important"
"Alright, see you" I walked to my car. And with that we both parted different paths.

The first thing I did was go to Chris's place since I had his keys.
I walked to his room and started looking for anything that proved that he was the owner of this place.
I got papers that could be useful. Even though Luke wasn't going to help me I'll have to ask for a lawyer that they give you.
They have to assign and attorney if you can't afford one.
I can't, I barely have the rent money.
I started looking for more when I came to a box. I was confused at the box.
I opened it slowly and saw letters.
I opened one.
Dear Chris,
Hi sweetie. I know I'm not with you anymore but know that I love you. I wish I was there for. I missed half of your life. I know I taught you what right and wrong. I know your future will be how we both pictured it. I wish I could meet your wife and my grandchildren when you're older but I won't, I will but won't be able to touch them. I know you're a great guy and you'll find a great girl. I know I left many letters but I miss you honey. I'm sorry I had to leave this way. I love you. If you ever need someone go our favorite place and I'll be there. Not in person but my presence will be there. Love you.
Love,
Mom
He never told me about his mom.
He always told me how his dad left him stranded on the road at night and never came back for him.
I put the letter back into the box and placed it back where I found it.
I closed my eyes. Both my hands held onto the counter top.
"Come back" I whispered. "or take me with you" a tear fell down. Then another one and another and another.
I cleaned my face and walked out of the apartment.
I haven't really thought about the funeral or anything.
Nobody knew about it.
I walked to my car and went back To my apartment.
I held everything close to me. I'm not losing this.
As I got to my place I saw Nick's car.
I parked and got out.
"I went to look for you but you weren't at the station, so I came here." He walked over to me. "where the fuck were you?"
"What's with the attitude?" I asked annoyed.
"You weren't here so I was worried, that's all"
"I was at Over at Chris's"
"Are you alright?" He asked.
"Yeah, everything is alright" I walked towards the apartment building.
I am the only one who truly knows how I actually feel.
Nobody else knows the pain.
Nobody understands.
