Leah

My heart was pounding so hard it felt like it wanted to tear out of my chest. My head was spinning wildly, making me grab onto anything to keep from falling. But none of that mattered, I had to reach Billy... I couldn't let them kill him.

Then, hurry.

Stumbling and nearly falling, gravity slammed my chest into the door, but managed to grasp the handle and open it. I was completely disoriented, barely able to breathe, still in shock from everything that had just happened. My legs were shaking, my senses scrambled, and every step was a challenge, but I had to reach him.

I owed him that.

I owed him everything.

I would give my life for him.

They're killing him. Then I'd kill them.

My steps were slow and clumsy, and as I looked to the side, I saw my hand leaving a trail of blood on the wall I was using for support. Reaching up with my other hand, I realised my head was bleeding, probably from the impact against the wall. That explained the dizziness... But there was no time to worry about that.

I kept moving, feeling the throbbing pain in my head. My senses were scrambled, the adrenaline hadn't worn off, and shock was begging to pull me back into its protective shell.

But not now! I wouldn't let my fucked up mind keep me from saving him.

Then, as I turned the corner, the scene before me made my headache ten times worse. Fireworks were going off inside Starcourt, their bright flashes forcing my eyes shut for a moment. And there, towering over everything, was a massive, grotesque creature made of flesh. Its legs thick and bloated with human parts, its face a gaping maw of razor-sharp teeth. Was I losing that much blood, or was this real?

He's right there...

Hearing the voice in my head, I glanced to the side, and my heart stopped before racing faster than ever.

There he was. Billy.

My Billy.

His body was covered in blood and wounds. Billy, with an exhausted expression but still fighting for his life, pushing the monster's arm away before it could crush him. The effort he was putting... with his veins visible from where I stood.

And I couldn't move anymore. Clinging to the wall beside me, my body froze, completely paralyzed. My eyes were wide, tears streaming down my face. My breath became more erratic, desperate for the air my lungs were lacking, matching the frantic beat of my heart that felt like it was about to burst out of my chest.

No... Please... Don't take him from me...

Please!

I was begging. For everything or anything. I was begging them to stop. I was begging for someone to help him.

Please!

Then, I saw her. Eleven, on the ground, behind Billy, looking at him with her hand raised. A hand she always used to control everything and everyone. The hand she was using at that very moment to kill Billy. Was she doing it? Yes, she is, Leah! ... She was the one killing him, she was controlling that thing! And no one was doing anything to help him, to stop her.

Please!

"Billy..." I whispered, trying to force my body to take at least one step toward him. "Please..." I said, feeling my eyes blur with the tears filling them.

My chest hurt. It was tearing apart, and I didn't even know I still had a heart to break.

Please... I beg you, El... Stop...
