You don't have to answer that

"I've got another question."

Peter took a deep breath, already annoyed at this guy and all his questions, but more specifically his attitude.

He was a sleazy, old, cranky, smelly, nasty man, and it was safe to say both Peter and Edmund just wanted him gone.

"Just one more, for your Just king." The man added.

Edmund gave him a nod, trying to act like he wasn't quickly losing interest.

"How do you plan to rule a country you recently betrayed?"

Silence.

You could hear a pin drop.

It took a while, but Peter eventually opened his mouth. "You don't have to answer that." He said darkly, speaking to his brother but glaring daggers at the man in front of them.

Edmund seemed frozen to his seat for ages, before he took a deep breath and stood, staring dead into the dark green eyes of the man. "I plan on ruling this country exactly the same as my siblings do." He said fiercely. "I'm not the boy I used to be, and I can assure you that as long as I am on the throne, I will try my hardest to make sure no danger ever destroys Narnia."

The man sneered at the young King, before flinging his cape and marching from the room.

Edmund sat back down, swallowing hard before sighing.

Peter was staring at the door for ages after he left, almost like he wanted to set it on fire, before he eventually turned to his brother. "You okay?" He asked hesitantly.

Edmund nodded slowly. "It's not like it's the first time so..." He trailed off, shrugging.

"Still." Peter murmured. "He had no right."

"I know." Edmund agreed, before taking a deep breath. "I say we forget about this, go for a ride?"

Peter smiled and nodded, knowing a ride was the easiest way to cheer Edmund up and help him through tough times. "Sounds good."
