"Everything was actually going fine until we hit the nuns." Nolan tells Brooke as a nurse removes porcupine quills from his head.

"wait, wait, you hurt a nun?" Brooke asks.

"No, no. The suspect I was chasing made a beeline for a group of nuns. A gathering - is it a flock of nuns? I know it's not a murder of nuns." Nolan answers, before exclaiming. "Ow!"

"Sorry." The nurse responds.

"Tell me the truth. Do I look like a porcupine?" Nolan asks.

"You don't not look like a porcupine." The nurse replies.

"okay, let's get back to the story, so the suspect ran towards a group of nuns, what happened next?" Brooke asks.

"Yes. As I was saying - ow - the nuns slowed me down, allowing the suspect to get away, jumping over a fence." Nolan continues.

"I know I've told you not to hop over a fence without knowing what's on the other side" Brooke sighs.

"But he was getting away, so I just - I just - I went over." Nolan says.

"and you landed on a cactus" Brooke realizes.

"No, no. First, I had to get away from the dog." Nolan replies, sheepishly. "The cactus was over the second fence."

There's a pause before Nolan asks. "This is really the lowest point in my rookie experience, isn't it?"

A young man holding an envelope knocks on the open door.

"Hey. I'm looking for Officer John Nolan?" The man asks.

"That's me." Nolan says.

"You've been served." The man hands Nolan the envelope before leaving.

"Thanks. Wait. What?" Nolan asks.

"yeah, this might be the lowest point" Brooke grimaces.

[Time Skip]

"Tim?" Brooke wakes up in the middle of the night, which is common.

Zoe and Violet love to kick her, especially at the most inconvenient times.

But what is unusual is that Tim isn't in bed with her. Brooke pushes herself out of bed, groaning as she did so.

It gets harder to move every day, and it doesn't help that she feels like a balloon about to pop.

"you two better not give me any shit when you're older" Brooke tells her belly as she tries to find her slippers.

She gives up on finding them because it would involve leaning down which is a harder and harder challenge as time goes on.

She checks the bathroom first before walking down the hall and down the stairs. She finds Tim fast asleep on the couch, with his Sergeant books spread out around him.

"Tim? babe?" Brooke murmurs, trying to gently wake him up.

"Tim" Brooke shakes his shoulder and that gets him awake.

"what?" Tim asks, opening his eyes and sitting up.

"you fell asleep studying, babe, come on, let's go to bed" Brooke says, trying to pull him up.

"no, hold on, I need to study a bit longer" Tim protests.

"I can read you one of your books until you fall asleep, how about that?" Brooke asks.

"you need to sleep too" Tim frowns.

"tell your daughters that" Brooke replies.

Tim smiles and stands up.
