Asumi Amajiki suffered in silence, unable to hear All For One but feeling the internal battle happening between them as Yume silently followed him in fear and therefore herself along with her.
It was much like standing bound in cement, chained hands to the floor, mouth stitched shut, a blindfold over your eyes and headphones covering your ears but feeling such an energy nearby that it drove her mad. All of her senses were gone yet she could practically read his mind so clearly, the inner turmoil spinning wild.
She had worked so hard with Yume. Compared to where they started, the two were an unstoppable team that probably would have reached the top alongside Bakugo, Todoroki, and Midoriya even without the desire to do so. That had never been a desire of her own, but it was nice to know she had come so far. They could do anything with one another, with their friends.
It dampened his plans, and he couldn't utilize all the work that had been done between the two.
She thought that'd give her an advantage. The quirk was too hard to manage with only Yume in control, which is why he tried to find a host; she didn't try to kill herself to get the sweet relief of freedom–misunderstanding it for not being able to withhold the power. His plans were nothing with Asumi locked away, unable to be manipulated further into doing his bidding since he lost her to the heroes. The damage had been done.
Asumi was arguably useless without a quirk, he thought, and Yume was powerless to stand up to those who wanted hers.
Together they were an unstoppable team, but right now, both were useless to him.
It made her want to grin in victory while bound in chains, only her mind as company.
It was celebrated too early, because the air shifted at her mental victory, robbing her of the moment.
Because what he truly wanted from the beginning, something not even he realized he sought, was disguised as a desire for a powerful quirk.
Maybe it started that way, but he practically rubbed her nose in the dirt with the knowledge that he never wanted Asumi. Not truly.
He wanted his little sister and her quirk. Asumi had only complicated things and was a poor solution to his problem. He never cared what happened to her.
The fact of the matter is that Asumi was merely a vessel for his sister.
A lonely, selfish man was after Yume no matter how much she didn't want him and desired something else entirely, but he kept her away from such because of his selfishness.
Asumi was reduced to only a pawn the moment she was taken, using her body like it was a hollow shell of a doll. She didn't know why it took her so long to really let her purpose to him sink in. The reality of how little importance she had as anything more was a slap to the face.
