I am an architect, I'm drawing up the plans
It's like I'm seventeen, nobody understands
No one understands."

If you were to ask Francesca or "Frankie" Wu who her first friends were, she'd tell you Eli Moskowitz and Demetri Alexopoulos were her first ever friends. She met them in kindergarten, becoming friends with Demetri first since they were table partners and then meeting Eli during recess that same day. After that, the three were glued to each others hips and even when they reached the age where "girls had cooties" Demetri and Eli never stopped being Frankie's friends.

As they grew up, Frankie started to realize she was good at just about everything. There was nothing she couldn't do. She was the best dancer, painter, she was good at sports. She never had to study or try, she just remembered everything. She was so proud of herself and all she wanted to do was freak out to her friends about it. Eli thought it was so cool but Demetri hated it.

For as long as Demetri could remember he was always the best at everything academic-wise. With Frankie suddenly acing every test and remembering how to spell every word, she quickly took that spot from him.

The older they got, the more resentment Demetri held towards Frankie. He kept it in. He held back every snarky comment, every yell, anything he wanted to say about the girl when she would show them her new grade on a project, test, or exam.

Frankie never noticed Demetri's anger towards her wins so she always told him about it. As time grew on, Frankie started to realize she was excited to tell Demetri about her wins because she liked the boy. She just wanted him to think she was smart like him.

She just wanted to impress her crush.

But Demetri couldn't hold it in any longer when Frankie showed him and Eli her history final on the last day of eighth grade. Frankie got a perfect score and Demetri got a 99%. He lashed out that day, telling her that she was a show off and searching for attention. He let everything he had been holding back for the past five years out in the open.

That was the last time Frankie had spoken to Demetri and Eli.

Frankie spent her summer at the country club with her mom and quickly became friends with Aisha Robinson, who just started losing her friend, Sam LaRusso, to the popular girls.

When high school started, Frankie continued being the top of her class, Demetri always a close second. She still never had to work to do that. Of course, she'd never tell anyone that after what happened with Demetri. She wouldn't want anyone calling her a bitch or a show off.
