"one more day" Brooke murmurs to herself as Tim helps her out of bed.

"one more day and the last month and half of your pregnancy will be spent in peace" Tim agrees.

"that sounds really good" Brooke smiles, leaning into Tim. "I've been thinking of doing a deep clean of the house"

"you just can't sit still for more than five minutes now can you?" Tim smirks, kissing her forehead, his hand absentmindedly rubbing her belly.

"I'm nesting" Brooke replies.

"this feels like just an excuse so you're not laying in bed and doing what the doctor says" Tim replies.

"maybe it is, maybe it isn't" Brooke giggles.

"I don't understand how you can listen to every word a doctor says when it comes to my health, but when it comes to your health and well being, you're eager to do the opposite of what the doctor says" Tim remarks.

"I'm a complicated person" Brooke smirks.

"what are you betting for the rookies?" Tim asks.

"mmm" Brooke hums. "Nolan's been studying hard, he calls like every hour to ask me questions"

"I thought I heard you talking to someone last night" Tim sighs.

"he's very nervous and I think he and Lucy are really gunning for it" Brooke replies.

"Lucy is a natural test taker" Tim says.

"Nolan is struggling with it more, he has all the information but the nerves are what get him" Brooke agrees. "I know Lucy's been giving him tips and I have too"

"well, you're the best at it because you took the exam sick with the flu and with a 102 degree fever and still got a 96" Tim grins.

"you love telling people that story" Brooke laughs.

"my former rookie and now girlfriend is a fucking genius, of course I'm going to brag about it" Tim chuckles.

Brooke blushes and giggles. "Tim?"

"yeah?" Tim asks, looking down at her.

"I love you" Brooke whispers.

Tim's breath hitches and Brooke's eyes widen, wondering if it was too soon.

"I love you too" Tim murmurs before pulling her into a kiss.

"80 might be the passing grade, Boot, but if you don't get at least a 90, you should turn in your badge on general principle." Angela tells Jackson before roll call starts.

"Officer Chen, I will take it as a personal insult if you get anything less than a 93." Tim agrees.

"just do your best" Brooke smiles at Nolan.

Both Angela and Tim raise an eyebrow at her.

"b-but a 90 or above would be good" Brooke adds, trying to be strict but she's not a strict person.

"So, all right. Big day ahead. Rookies will work the first six hours of their shift on patrol, then come back to take the written test. Hey, try not to tire them out this morning. Just take the easy calls, okay?" Grey instructs, starting roll call.

"I don't do easy." Tim remarks.

"But you do follow direct orders, am I right, Officer Bradford?" Grey asks.

"Yes, sir." Tim nods.

"Good. Easy, then. Following the written exam, you three will report to the Chief's office, where he will personally administer the oral exam. Remember, he can fail you for a dozen different reasons, so -" Grey taps his temple. "Remind me, Officer Nolan, how the Chief feels about you."
