Gally's POV
It was the day of the mission which I could join. I got woken up in the morning by none other than Y/N. "Wake up. It's the day of the mission.", she shook me weakly.
I slowly turned around with a growl and opened up my eyes. "C'mon.", she smiled softly and left the doctor's tent. Slowly, I sat up and leaned against the metals of the bed to rub my eyes. In a quick movement, I swung my legs out of bed.
As I stepped to the outside world too, I saw the team getting ready by putting on some clothes. When I approached them, Y/N saw me and smiled before walking towards me with some clothes in her hand. "These are yours.", she informed me, handing the clothes to me. Then, she turned around and walked away just to come back with a pair of boots in her hands. "I hope these fit. You need some proper shoes for a mission."
Surprisingly, they did fit and one hour later of preparation, the team members were called to the helicopter.
Every needed thing was listed to be sure that everything was there which I listened carefully to. After that, the pilot, whose name was Matt, announced the lift off.
The lift-off felt strange, but somehow familiar... Familiar... I zoned out and noticed how my surroundings changed. I was a little kid again - five years old - and I was... At home? Suddenly, I felt warm arms wrapped around me, as if I should be protected from something. It was my mother... I clung to her arms, my fingers digging into her skin as I heard her sob. Then, a loud bang came from a gun. Right after, people stormed into the room and directly stomped towards mother and me. One of them grabbed me and another one mother, but I didn't lose my grip on her. Mother screamed loudly and I called her. "Let him go!", a man shouted, but mother didn't listen to him. Mother never let go, just like I never let go from her.
"Let go!", one of them demanded, but none of us two listened to him.
"Not my boy!", mother screamed as her nails dug deeper into my skin. It hurt, but I didn't care to - I just want to be with mother.
"Shoot her!", a woman's voice raised. Mother and I still didn't let go despite the way the soldiers tried to pull us apart from each other. Not even 30 seconds later, a loud bang filled the room and mother's grip loosened off of me. The man who was pulling me, now embraced me into his arms that I couldn't see the surroundings.
It all went fast. I felt the man running out, another weird chopping noise filled my ears as sand got blew on my skin. Then, something was being closed, and the man let go of me. I was in a helicopter. I ran to the door, as I wanted to go out and go back to my mother, but I couldn't open the door. So, I did the only thing a little toddler would've done. I screamed as loud as I could before they put a tissue in front of my mouth and nose as the helicopter lifted off.
As a kid, I never understood what had happened, but now I knew. They killed my parents. W.C.K.D. killed my parents!
"Hey! Gally!", someone shouted. I snapped out of my memories. It was Y/N who was crouching in front of me. "We just arrived. Stay put. And this" she said, taking out a black walkie-talkie out of her left pocket, "is for you. If anything happens or you see anything suspicious, notify us. Just click on that soft button in the corner. Understood?"
I nodded. She nodded back as she patted my shoulder, then went away to join the others. Just now, I noticed that Luna was in the helicopter as well, her hand holding onto a gray bag, ready to leave whenever.
I watched as the team approached the building. As I looked at every one of them, I recognized Y/N directly at the way she moved her body. To be honest, she was kind of hot in those mission clothes, it made her look stronger and more confident.
Y/N's POV
We entered the building and the moment we stepped in, we knew this used to be a laboratory for experiments. It was surprisingly tidy and everything was still in place, but the dust on the furniture showed us that this was left a long time ago.
As soon as every one of us was inside, we divided us into smaller groups. I was expectedly paired with Jack. We found a little white room where the lights were still on. The doors slid open with a hissing sound when we stood in front of them. Slowly and surely we stepped in. Grey cupboards made out of metal were stuffed into the room. All of them were customized with a name on single one of them. I approached the cupboards and took a look at them. A1 - Teresa, A2 - Thomas, A3 - Siggy, A4 - Chuck... What did these mean? Who were they? I opened A4 but found nothing inside. The cupboard was empty. I opened every cupboard, but my body froze when I found a name that I absolutely knew... Gally - A9... The moment, my hand gripped the cold metal to open it, Jack called my name.
"Y/N, I found something!", he said loudly and went to the cold white table. Instinctively, I approached the table as well and stood curiously next to him as he wrapped the paper open. The paper was huge when he laid it on the table. I took a better look at it until I realized it was a map with a drawn route on it.
"This is a map.", I spoke.
"Yeah.", Jack nodded.
We looked for clues as to what the map was about. After a few seconds, Jack pointed at the right lower corner. The script was small, but big enough to be deciphered. It was written in clear blue color. The Last City.
What the hell?! The Last City?! Was this a route to The Last City?! No way! "Where did you find this, Jack?", I gasped.
"Down there, under that cupboard.", he answered and pointed at a cupboard with the text of A13 - Winston.
"There is no way we just found a map of The Last City...", I muttered.
"I think we did... Y/N, this is amazing!", Jack whispered. "We can finally attack them!"
"What if this map is not real? Or is already out of date?", I asked.
"We have to try it, Y/N! This could be our chance! And why would this map be fake?", he asked me back.
"I don't know. Maybe to lure us into a trick?"
"Y/N, we have to go there! This is our chance! I have an excellent feeling about this! Let me put it in our bag."
I turned around, so Jack could put the paper into my small bag I carried on the shoulders.
Could this really be it? Could it really be our ticket to The Last City? Gosh, I really hope so.
After we looked at every corner, in every shelf, we didn't find more things. We informed our team that we were done, just like some of the members. So, we made our way back to the main hall to talk about our findings. The others didn't find special things—only some computers, two guns and some white coats. Then, it was Jack's and my turn.
Jack and I looked at each other before he pulled the white paper out of my bag. He rolled it open to reveal the map. As soon as some of the members realized what the piece of paper was, they gasped.
"Is this... Is this really the map of the Last City?", Bradley asked Jack. Jack nodded with a smirk in respond.
"How?", Olivia asked.
"It was lying under a cupboard. They must've forgotten it.", Jack shrugged.
"Our way to the Last City...", Matt muttered.
Our way to the Last City...
