"They got her out safe and sound?" Dahlia wonders, perched on the couch with her legs crossed in front of her as I approach with a steaming mug in my hands.
The situation today was harrowing if one were to put it nicely.
A gut wrenching storm made it difficult to feel anything but guilt whenever my gaze travelled onto Anastasia.
Her face was paled to the point where if you looked closely enough that you might catch a glimpse of her skeleton. Her beautiful wavy hair frizzed and stuck in pieces to her tear streaked face. Eyes the size of a dime as her chest fell in motions that could move trees.
Made my problems seem completely mundane as her nerves began to paralyse her where she had to be carried out of the hospital.
"Barely." Breathing out defeatedly as the couch cushion dips underneath my weight. I fall down next to her, handing the cup of tea while she murmurs a small thanks.
"Some asshole was using the abseil and camping out the windows, the things people do for money."
"Coming from two billionaires." She speaks with a light tone in an attempt to ease my mood.
A smile threatens my lips as I bring my legs up to my chest and hug them. "You know what I mean."
"How'd you guys get out?" She questions, pressing the rim of the cup to her lips as she keeps her eyes focused on me.
"Well I didn't leave with them, I went back to check on you."
Her cheeks flush with a crimson before she offers me a toothy grin and a shrug.
"The better question is how did you even get out?"
"Probably left before they locked the hospital down, I called Maverick and just bounced." She set the cup down on the table before us as she eagerly sits on her knees with her head inched towards me. "Answer my question now."
My eyes roll in my head as I fall back against the cushion and sprawl my legs out in discomfort. "They weren't able to leave without people capturing photos because more paparazzi was hidden in the back but ultimately she was carried and taken back by Harper Security."
Dahlia nods her head in an understanding motion before an emphatic expression clouds her face. She sinks back and hugs her legs to her chest.
Softening my look as I offer her a nod. "I know." I speak as gently as I can.
"It is our fault." Guilt ridden over her body to make it rigid to the point where I feel tense by just looking at her.
A lump grows in my throat, lifting my hand to scratch my cheek as my knee bounces at an unnecessarily quick pace. My lips part with the intent to speak, yet nothing prevails.
Silence remains over us, deafening the apartment before my tongue manages to finally release something.
"I know." I mutter out, weaker than how my normal tone carries.
Every time Ana's colour drained face flashed into my mind as the cruel reminder of the bitterness I serve so hastily. A part of my resolve dies.
Typical Sofia. Class A Bitch.
My hands ball into weak fists as I drop my head, the only noise being occasional breaths from both Dahlia and I.
"How's your head?" My concern shifts to the girl next to me who idly twirls a curl in her fingers.
"Fine." She murmurs out.
My eyebrow shoots up, I sit up straighter as worry etches my expression and I scoot towards her.
