_______________________________________________Nora jolts awake. She's lucky it wasn't too bad this time.
Usually it's alot worse. And sometimes, it isn't even about what happened at camp.
Sometimes she's just stuck in the darkness.
She would scream for someone, but no one would answer.
She's alone in complete darkness.
Then she'd wake up.
Nora rubs her eyes and looks around her room.
She touches the bruise on her face. It's not too big, but it hurts.
_______________________________________________Nora spends most of the day in her room, avoiding her parents.
Especially her dad.
He's already left a couple times today, probably to go to another bar.
Those are the only times she went downstairs.
Nora's mom isn't usually violent like her dad.
She just minds her own business.
And all day, Nora couldn't stop thinking about Nick. She wants so much to talk to him.
She misses him.
She misses kissing him. She misses how he would hold her until the sun rised back at camp.
She misses everything.
Even though she's only known him for those few days, it's like she's known him for longer.
But what is she thinking? He has his 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥.
Everything's gone.
Shes so mad at him. She hates him so much.
He just left her.
But then she doesn't hate him. Nora walks into the kitchen, hesitating before dialing Nick's number on the phone.
She holds the phone to her ear as she looks around, making sure no one's in the kitchen with her.
The phone rings for a while. Just when she thought he'd answered, it's a voice mail.
𝘏𝘦𝘺! 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘕𝘪𝘤𝘬. 𝘐'𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸. 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦.
There's a beep, signaling Nora to leave her message. But she doesn't say anything.
She doesn't know what to say. She puts the phone back in its place.
She just froze, unable to speak. Would she have anything to say if he had answered?
_______________________________________________At the end of the day, Nora locked herself in her room.
Her dad was in the middle of hitting her mom downstairs.
And when he hits her, it's brutal.
She can almost feel the impact.
Nora's gotten used to the sound of a fist colliding into a face.
She can hear her moms faint moans, and cries.
She can't stand it.
But her mom isn't so innocent in this situation.
She likes to start the fights with him. And in the end, she can't defend herself.
And when he turns to Nora, there's nothing she can do either.
She wants to. She 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 want's to.
But she's so scared.
She tries to block out the noise coming from downstairs.
She thinks about calling Ellie again, but doesn't.
Ellie's on the verge of telling someone.
Nora hears a loud thump followed by silence.
Everything is quiet.
Nora stays where she is.
She cries herself to sleep that night.
She wants her dad gone. She wants him to leave, and never come back.
And honestly, she wants her mom gone too. She doesn't care for Nora.
All she cares about is drinking.
