When Y/n was chained in the cold walls of her clan's cell, god showered her with more coldness with the freezing weather.

Her fingertips and toes were tinted black and went numb after hours of the torturous feeling the weather seeped into her epidermis.
Her lips were painfully cracked, dyed crimson with the frozen blood that was previously free to flow.

Even the trembling wasn't enough to replace her discomfort with warmth.

In the solace of stillness and the sound of her own heart thumping against her rib, she heard a hopeful creak sound of the opening of the door.

Perhaps it was food? Or someone to genuinely and concerningly see her?

Seeing her mother she could feel that she was there for her genuinely. Ironically, the whole scenario changed when she saw her mother with an utterance she had never imagined existed.

"Here I thought you would be a perfect weapon for my rule, but you left me alone too, didn't you?" Her mother traveled her hand to her cheeks striking a warm hue on her cheeks in contrast to her cold words.

"You were my perfect plan yet greatest regret, Y/n" She stroked gently around Y/n's cold skin possibly giving her the fervor of mother she never ever offered.

Y/n left her too. When fame surrounded her and people began to worship her, she left her mother. She acted like nothing happened even if her mother was beaten ruthlessly, even if she was taunted to the verge of her sanity. But no one can forget she was too young to realize her mistake.

"Did you hope for me to come and rescue you?" Her face remained calm as if showing the irony dancing on her words. "You never took my side, Y/n. You never helped your mother, why the hell am I supposed to help you?!"

Y/n chewed her lips when her mother's voice stoned over her ears, rumbling as an earthquake itself. She could barely speak. Whenever her lips parted, the crack and dried flesh on her epidermis jolted ache through her body.

Her mother got up. Her dress was ordered, possibly like she was going out as her hair was up to do in a bun—that she used to do whenever she left the house.

"I will be leaving this hell" She looked down at Y/n's small and trembling figure but not even the connotation of guilt covered her chest.

"Where will you—go?" Y/n's voice was quivering from her core. Her voice was desperate to call for her mother to stay with her, o let her join. Nevertheless, she knew, her mother wasn't here to help—she was here to announce her farewell.

"I am going to take vengeance on the one who did me wrong" She was full of a cold expression that Y/n rarely saw. Usually, she was obedient and crying, but she was cold now as if every part of her body was broken and remolded.

And then something unusual happened.

"I hope you find a way out of this hell soon" Her mother smiled. Smiled with a subtle curve but smiled at her. She couldn't even recall when was the last time she smiled at her, but she did now. Y/n couldn't even express what felt inside her but it was comfortable.

When tears blurred her eyes, she wanted to grab her mother's legs to prevent her from leaving. She cannot just leave, no not now when she gave her a tiny bit of hope.

But it was too late. Her mother faded into the room the dark and heavy aura weighing down again.

This was the first time Y/n felt betrayed.
