"Okay, Anne works as a doctor so she won't be home until late-evening," you explained to a pale Hiccup as the two of you walked to the front door of your new house.
"Why don't you call Anne "mom"?" Hiccup questioned you. "Since she adopted you."
You looked over your shoulder and glared at him. "Because she is not my mom, and she will never be," you sharply answered.
You kicked the door open and it banged on the wall with a loud sound. You threw your backpack down the wooden floor.
"You're pretty strong," Hiccup complimented you, though you didn't notice it.
"Don't underestimate me."
The two of you walked up the rickety stairs in silence.
Hiccuo observed the dirty, moldy, dusty, sooty, bug-infested, web-covered and old-fashioned house. A large spider dropped from the ceiling and landed a few centimeters form you.
You stifled a small scream and Hiccup laughed softly.
A web fell in his head. "Gah!"
You laughed louder than you should have.
Sometimes, Karma is your bff.
You reached the top of the stairs, which is even dirtier, moldier, dustier, sootier, and more bug-infested, more web-covered, and more old fashioned than the ground floor.
The both of you passed by an old and framed picture of Spiderman with hearts drawn around him. There was an "I LOVE YOU" written at the bottom.
You cringed and walked on, thinking that Anne was a deranged fangirl with an obsession over fictional-characters, but Hiccup stopped.
"Hey, do you know what super-hero am I?" He asked you, smiling softly.
You stopped in your tracks and turned on your heel to face him. "Umm, Super-Grippy...-uh-....Man?"
Hiccup grinned. "No...Yourman."
You rolled your eyes. "Okayyy..."
"Ouch. You pain me, (y/n)," Hiccup said, jogging up to your side.
"Good."
You spotted the covered portrait , walked to it and took the cloth down, throwing it over your shoulder.
"Look at this," you whispered as Hiccup examined it. "Do you think the fire was an accident or not?"
He solemnly shook his head. "I don't think so."
He reached out to take the portrait out of its nail, but he couldn't do it.
"Why is this so heavy?" said a tired Hiccup.
You watched, unamused. "Are you sure you're a superhero?" You mumbled and carried the portrait with ease.
Hiccup looked sheepish as you handed him the portrait. The wall had a faded spot where it used to be.
"Fishbone," you said.
"Moody," Hiccup shot back.
"Shrimp."
"Idiot."
"Knucklehead."
"I like you," Hiccup said, grinning.
"I like you too," you blurted out, without thinking.
Then you realized what you had just said and slapped a hand over your mouth and glared at Hiccup who was trying to hide his laugh.
You punched his shoulder.
"Ow! What was that for?!" Hiccup said, rubbing his now sore shoulder.
"That," you said through gritted teeth. "-was for tricking me in to saying silly nonsense."
Hiccup glared at you. "Yeah, but it's true."
