This chapter is a hard/sensitve case. Please remember the story takes place in a hospital and some chapters will be harder to read than others.

Since I had updated it, I'm reiterating the major trigger warnings that appear in the intro of this book, Any other TW's will be included in that respective chapter but the ones listed below are consistent throughout the book

Cancer, Alcoholism/addiction, and death.

These are major things that are embedded within the story and to be aware of as the story progresses.

Please remember this is a *fictional* piece of work that includes hard topics the same as other pieces of media!! (physical books, movies, and TV shows)

Chapter 51
Friday November 17th
Harry's POV

"It's just some pancakes, what is taking so long?" I muttered under my breath. I was stood in the very crowded cafeteria line, waiting impatiently to get some pancakes for Stevie. She was feeling better now that's its been a few days since her last chemo round, and her appetite had slowly made an appearance yesterday. She woke me up bright and early asking to go get her favorite pancakes from downstairs, and I'd never deny that request, which is how I ended up here.

Typically I can get in and out of here within a few minutes, but apparently everyone in this damn place heard there was a special on French toast and came running.

I crossed my arms over my chest, leaving my tray on the counter, since it's not like we were getting anywhere anyways. What was so hard about picking between bacon and sausage that the breakfast line was at a complete standstill? My foot tapped down against the ground, causing my ID that was clipped to the hem of my scrub top to bounce against my thigh. All I wanted to do was make my girl happy and get back upstairs to her, but instead I had to wait for people to choose what they wanted to eat out of hospital food options.

"You look grouchy this morning"

I turned and look at Mallory, who had now occupied the spot behind me in line. She held onto her tray that only carried a water bottle, clearly unaware of the time that I've been standing here doing nothing, otherwise she wouldn't look so happy to get a fruit cup.

"And you look very happy" I made a face, wondering what could possibly have her in a good mood so early.

"I just watched the sunrise" Mallory filled in, I should have known. Her face practically was lighting up at bringing up the topic of her most prized past time, kind of how Stevie lights up on Christmas morning when she see's all of her presents. It was a look of childlike innocence, something I feel Mallory holds a lot of, trying to make up for her shitty childhood that I've heard bits and pieces about.

"Of course you did" I rolled my eyes in a playful manner.

"Maybe if you did, you wouldn't be so grouchy" Mallory pointed out, giggling to herself at the second mention of the nickname. She was always trying to force this sunrise on me like it was a life changing revelation that would rid of all the things I coined as problems in my life, but I don't see it.

"I doubt it" I remarked, already knowing it wouldn't make a difference.

"But it was so pretty this morning, look" Mallory gasped, excitedly pulling out her phone and clicking on her photos app. I looked around the cafeteria as I anxiously waited with enthusiasm for this photo, making sure that nobody in this crowded room mattered enough to care if they saw us speaking right now.
