Gaia watched uncomfortably as Eren was forced to transform. She could almost hear his bones grinding into dust as they expanded to accommodate his transformation into his titan form. Each time he tried, the sound got softer and softer, his soft bones not healed enough to emit a sound, while the temperature got warmer.
She could not help but feel more and more sorry for him, his recovery time was getting slower as well. There was a point where she saw that his eyes were struggling to stay in his skull because his eyelids did not heal completely yet. She stood up from where she was perched on a ledge of grass, at the time it was the best spot to see the transformation, but she soon learned that it was also the ideal spot for the scouts to all keep an eye on her.
Her movement caught the eye of an over-enthusiastic Hanji who was leading this "training," when Hanji's met hers, she crossed her arms looked at what was left of Eren, as Mikasa and Armin were panicking to help him and then looked back to Hanji and scowled. Hanji seemed to understand her silent command to stop, because her excitement simmered down, her shoulders slackened as she sighed, telling them to rest for the remainder of the day.
" He has to learn to control it and build a tolerance, princess," Hanji said lowly, as she climbed up to Gaia,
"Look at that," Gaia said pointing at the skeleton of Eren's titan form,
"He has not been anything but that figure for the past 7 tries, do you honestly think that pushing him further is doing anything other than tiring him out?" she asked, Hanji frowned and sighed,
"He reached his limit a while back, stop this, if anything, this is just giving away our location," Gaia said looking at the sky, watching a cloud move passed the sun, and then looked at Hanji, who seemed to be lost in thought at her words,
"You don't have to listen to me, I have no rank. But I do have common sense," she said walking towards Eren, but she was stopped by a grip around her wrist.
She turned around to find Hanji staring at her,
"Yes?" she asked, tilting her head in confusion,
"How did you know when he reached his limit?" she asked,
"When his skin stop forming fully, it just makes sense that if he does not fully transform, he will not be able to be of much use, so that would mean he is at his limit," Hanji gave her a look that she could not decipher,
"Are you getting your memories back?" Gaia's eyebrows raised, Hanji was suspicious of her,
"You think after everything that I would keep that to myself after everything that we have been through? " Gaia asked turning towards Hanji now, Hanji seemed taken aback by her words,
"I may not say it but you do mean something to me, we might not be as friendly as Jean and I, or have this inexplicable connect like Eren and I, you aren't my... you aren't Levi," she faultered a bit,
"But you are the first person to smile at me, to look at me as if I was something other than a monster," Gaia said, her fondness very apparent in her voice,
"I know this is risky and I know that you all have more than enough reasons to be suspicious of me," she said and grabbed Hanji's hands,
"You are putting your faith in me, and I appreciate that, and I will tell you all whats going on the moment I find out" Gaia concluded, Hanji gave her a small smile, and lifted a hand to wipe away a tear that Gaia shed, cupping her face after,
"That's all I ask, let us be the first to know when you find out. Even if somehow you are on their side and not ours, give us that courtesy, because we looked after you when you were vulnerable," Hanji said, in a tone that was more serious than Gaia ever heard her in,
"I-I promise," she said, Hanji's smile widened,
"Now princess, I am feeling a bit sad-"
"You are smiling," Gaia noted, but was ignored,
"-don't you wanna make me feel better? In that special way that I taught you how," Hanji smirked, Gaia blushed,
"YOU ARE SMILING," She said louder, trying to pull her face away but Hanji cradled her head firmly, Hanji giggled, puckering her lips and leaning in teasingly,
"I will bite you," Gaia growled,
"Don't threaten me with a good time," Hanji laughed,
"What the fu-" Jean commented with a blush on his face,
"Jean, you're here!" Gaia noted jumping away from Hanji and wrapped her arm around his, effectively dragging him away,
"D-Did I just interrupt s-s-" he tried, blush still prominent,
"Jean, I will bury you...again," she said darkly, causing him to laugh,
"With those little arms of yours?" he teased, causing her to role her eyes,
"When will we be going back, we have been here for so long and I miss my own bed," she asked,
"Look, things are happening in the capital and we have to stay hidden until things have calmed down, you know that you don't actually care about the details," Jean said,
"I suppose that's why he still hasn't returned to me," she said, trying to reason that it was work that was keeping Levi from apologizing,
"Or it could be the stick up his ass," Jean muttered, as they both watched Mikasa and Armin drag Eren's body to place where he could rest. Gaia watched Eren in concern and Jean's eyes trailed over to Mikasa and he sighed. Gaia quirked a brow,
"A hopeless endeavor, but you can't stop me from wishing," he admitted, her eyes widened in realization causing Jean to chuckle,
"You cannot be just realizing this," he said, she smiled and shrugged,
"What can I say, the details bore me," she joked, causing them both to laugh, as their gaze made its way back to Mikasa and Eren.

From a far Levi watched the transaction, and rolled his eyes.
Despite the fact that they had explained exactly what the whole situation was. He was too proud and she was too stubborn to find a resolution.
His watched as her concerned eyes trailed after Eren, he could not help but be irked by them. They were very protective of each other, unrealistically so. He hated it, he was on the outside watching them.
He sighed and turned away from the sight. He could not focus on his personal matter right now, not when Erwin was facing execution.

Gaia stood closely to the door as she watched Eren sleep, his face still not fully healed. She saw Armin walk off with Christa and Mikasa in the other direction, so she decided to keep watch.
She walked in a little closer to look at the skin around his eyes, it looked painful.
You poor thing, they are working you to the bone. I do not envy you.
She reached out and let her hands graze it gently, to her surprise it started healing under her finger tips. Eren's opened in surprise as well when he felt his body healing rapidly. The feeling was warm and his face immitted the smoke that usually comes from the shell of his titan body when he leaves it or when he heals. She watched in shock as she ran over all of the unhealed areas of his face.
What the hell is happening?
"I am healed," he blinked in confusion, sitting up.
"Th-That you are," Gaia agreed still in disbelief, he looked at her questioningly, to which, she shrugged.
"Gaia, I'm ready lets go t-" Mikasa started but stopped at seeing Eren,
"Eren, you are already healed?" she observed, he usually took a bit longer than that to heal,
"Yeah, I guess," he responded, scratching the back of his neck.
"Well, lets not let him distract us, we have to go," Gaia said, pulling Mikasa's arm and leading her away before she could ask anymore questions that she did not have any answers to.
