The battlefield still smoldered with the aftermath of chaos. The cries of the marines echoed through the air, their ranks surging like waves that refused to relent. Luffy lay motionless, blood streaking his battered body. The echoes of his victory rang in the hearts of his crew, even as fear began to creep into him.
“Luffy… WON!” Usopp’s voice broke through the din, a mix of elation and desperation that cracked under the weight of emotion. Tears streamed freely down his face, his trembling hands gripping his slingshot.
Zoro stood nearby, his swords still drawn. His sharp gaze flicked to Y/N, and a faint smirk played at his lips, betraying a rare moment of pride. “He had me worried for a second.”
Y/N exhaled a shaky breath, the tension in his shoulders easing slightly as a grin spread across his face. “That’s our captain,” he murmured, his voice filled with quiet awe.
Before anyone could dwell on the moment, Nami’s voice rang out sharply, slicing through the haze of relief. “Luffy! Everyone, hurry to the escape ship! We’re setting out now!”
The announcement jolted them into motion, but their focus wavered as a jubilant voice echoed unexpectedly from a nearby loudspeaker.
“Good job, Strawhat-san! WHOO!”
“Idiot! They’ll hear us!” another voice snapped, sharp and annoyed.
“Bro! Bro!”
Usopp winced, clapping his hands over his ears as he looked around in confusion. “Whose voices are those?! What’s going on?!”
Zoro’s sharp eyes narrowed, and then recognition dawned. A small, knowing grin tugged at the corner of his mouth. “It’s them.”
From the edge of the battlefield, dangling precariously on ropes that swayed dangerously over the water, the Galley-La workers and the Franky Family appeared. Their voices were as lively as ever, cutting through the chaos with an almost comical resilience.
“Don’t push! I’ll fall!” someone's exasperated shout rang out, his irritation palpable.
“Idiot! Galley-La ropes don’t break! I told you to shut up!” came the sharp retort from Paulie.
“Bro! Don’t worry about us!” Zamba called out dramatically, waving with one hand while clutching the rope with the other. “We’ve got our own means of escape! Let’s meet up later!”
Franky stood among them, tears streaming down his soot-streaked face as he wept openly. “You jerks! I wasn’t worried about you! Idiots! They were alive! They were alive! I’m so happy I’m cracking up!”
Y/N chuckled despite himself, crossing his arms as he watched the chaotic group. “That’s all well and good... but it won’t mean much if you let these guys kill you.” He gestured toward the marines still advancing.
Franky sniffled loudly, nodding as he wiped at his face. “You’re right. Let’s keep moving.”
But the moment of levity was shattered as the marine announcement blared over the battlefield, sending a chill through the air.
“It looks like… the pirate Straw Hat Luffy… is gravely wounded! He isn’t moving at all!”
Y/N’s grin vanished, replaced by a dark edge of concern.
Usopp’s voice rose in panic, desperate as he cupped his hands around his mouth. “Hey, Luffy! Hurry up and come here! If we don’t get away now, we won’t survive! What’s wrong?! We’re almost out of here!”
From the distance, Luffy’s weak voice reached them, strained and pained. “Okay… nngh...” He tried to move, his body trembling, but his strength failed him.
