Laughter echoed along the streets as Mao walked along with his friends. The sun was just about setting over the horizon of the town.

Mao, along with his three friends, was heading to his place for a sleepover - of course... for that to be done, he had to ask his dad's permission in which both of the father figures said yes to the beaujolais-haired boy anyway.

"I wonder what we'll be doing at this sleepover?" Makoto wonders out loud once the quadripartite round a corner from the street.

"It's a 'sleepover'. We sleep - don't we?" Coming from Hokuto.

Subaru laughs as he wraps one arm around the black-haired leader of the friend group. "We don't sleep at them, Hokke. We have fun~! Like playing games or telling secrets, snacking on unhealthy food, or even embarrassing the carers of our friends, depending on who's houses we go to for a sleepover!"

"Then it should be called a 'funover', if we don't sleep at it..."

"Have you never gone to a sleepover, Hokuto?" Mao suddenly asks whilst tilting his head as he leans past Subaru and Makoto to look at Hokuto whilst the four still walk on.

"Does going to my Nan's place every weekend count?"

"Uh... not really? I'm unsure. But we still sleep at these sleepovers! Just... not at the time we should actually be doing so."

"That's just every day for you, Sally~!"

"Hey! Subaru! That wasn't nice!" Mao huffs at the orange haired boy, seemingly sticking his tongue out at Mao in a joking manner.

"Anyways... we're here. By the way, Subaru, please don't embarrass me in front of my parents. Especially Mama, because he's-" Mao says as he walks backwards towards the front door of his family home, his attention focused on Subaru as he spoke. He suddenly gets interrupted by arms wrapping around his small figure.

"MaoMao~! Oh, and MaoMao's little boyfriends are here again, too!"

"Mama, no!" Mao escapes from the hold and turns around to see Madara wearing a big, cheesy grin over his features.

Maybe... Mao told the wrong person about his warning, he thinks to himself. He tries changing the subject as soon as he can. "Is Papa home too?"

"He is! He's in the kitchen, if you want to see him!"

Mao nods and steps into the house. His friends say a quick hello to Madara once they set their stuff down in the hallway. Mao tells the three to go to his bedroom whilst he himself walks into the kitchen.

"Evening, Papa!"

"Evening. Are your friends here with you?" Kuro asks whilst he walks around the kitchen, grabbing food from the fridge-freezer and utensils from the cupboards and drawers.

Mao hums as he grabs a glass off the draining board beside the sink, shakes the little contents off it and places it under the tap as he twists one of the handles, watching as the cold water rises in the glass. "They're all in my room at the moment settling down." He replies whilst turning the tap off and taking a few sips of his drink, watching Kuro head towards the oven and twisting the few nobs around to get the stove top heated up.

"You best be seeing them, then, just no funny business - alright? And dinner will be done in thirty minutes."

Mao feels his face slightly warm within seconds, almost spitting his water out at the thought that Kuro had given him. "We're nothing like that, you know? We're all just friends!"

Kuro chuckles as he metaphorically chucks Mao out of the kitchen.

Within minutes Mao made his way into his bedroom, seeing his friends already making themselves at home. Subaru was sitting on Mao's bed, fiddling with a small teddy bear Mao had since he was a baby. Hokuto sat at Mao's desk, reading one of his books, and Makoto had already lied his sleeping bag out on the floor and sitting cross-legged on it, his phone sat in his hands as he played a game on it - Mao peeks over slightly to see the blond boy playing a game that has something to do with heroes, Makoto was levelling up an 'UR' card with a characters picture being of a spiky redhead, by the looks and the noise of it all. The character looked awfully familiar to him, like a manga character he's seen before... he shrugs the thought off.

"Sally!" Subaru greeted the youngest as soon as he walked into the bedroom, catching the other two's attention.

"Everything okay with your dad's?" Hokuto suddenly asks.

Mao nods. "Everything is fine so far." He sits on his bed next to Subaru, taking the teddy bear gently out of the said boy's hold once he was given it. He fiddled with the arms, thankful that there were no tears or holes in the soft toy yet from how old the bear was by now. "Papa did say dinner will be done in half an hour, though."

"Timing, because I'm getting hungry, and your dad's never seem to fail with their cooking!" Subaru announces.

"Papa is the only one who cooks. Dad has tried to, once... he almost blew up the microwave, remember?"

"True, but still! I didn't know any food could taste more delicious than it already is! You three are just a family of magicians~!"

The night falls into soft chaos. Laughter erupts from Mao and his friends for the next hours to come. Food was munched on, Madara made his presence known through the doorway every now and then only to be caught by Kuro, who kept saving the day for Mao and his already heightened embarrassment. Secrets and truths were spilled as the four also played games together - mostly digital, obviously.

None of them went to sleep until the early hours of the next morning - even Hokuto stayed wide awake with Mao, Makoto and Subaru, no matter how many times he said he was going to fall asleep during the hours.

And now, Mao was waving his three friends off once it turned midday. The door closes over, and silence begins to seep into the household until...

"So, when are you going to officially confess to them~?"

"Again, Mama?!" Mao yelps.

He turns around to see Madara standing there with the same grin he wore the many times before, Kuro stood behind him with his arms crossed for a moment. Mao rolls his eyes and walks past the duo named his parents.

"Our kid will not be doing any of that stuff, Madara... not until he's at least past his forties."

"Aw, come on. At least admit Mao looks cute with them! I bet, if they all got together with our son, they'll-"

A sudden screech comes from Madara. If Mao had to guess, Kuro had whacked the other around the head for his comment and interrupted him, the thought of what Madara said made Mao's face redden, but he couldn't help but laugh at his dads' antics with one another.
