Chapter 42

Mallory's POV

My ribs are slowly getting there and it doesn't hurt as much. It's been a month since I've been out of the hospital and Max has been coming over to try and talk to me everyday. One of the guys usually gets him to leave after awhile, but today I think I'm gonna try talk to him.

I can now get up on my own, but I need to make sure I get up slowly and be careful.

I heard the doorbell ring and I saw dad coming out of his room groaning, knowing he knew who it was.

"Dad!" I called after him

"What's wrong?!" He asked sprinting to my room

"Nothing" I laughed "you can let Max in. I think I'll talk to him today" I said

"Are you sure?" He asked with a hesitant look

"I'm sure" I said

Just need to make sure David doesn't know because he gets all 'overprotective mode'

I made my way downstairs slowly and opened up the door.

"Mallory!" Max said

"Okay. I'm only hearing you out this once, so this better be good" I said

He nodded and I let him in. We made our way to the backyard to sit down on one of the chairs.

"I'm sorry." He said "I'm sorry that I just left you and promised you that I would be right there whenever you needed me and I wasn't. I was dumb and I had no idea why I did that. I thought that since I was leaving, that I would start over" he said and I cut him off

"So you were just going to start over without me knowing? You were just gonna leave me stranded here and not tell me shit!" I said

"Mallory, I regret everything! I loved you and I still love you now!" He said and I just stared at him

"Please say something" he slightly begged since I was just quiet

"No." I said

"What?" He asked confused

"No. I'm done. You should've just stayed there and kept your distance because I got over you and I was doing great without you" I said and I saw a hurt look on his face. Good. Now he knows what it feels like to be hurt.

"You should just go back and stay there because there's nothing her left for you" I said getting up.

"Mallory..." He said

"You can go out through the back gate. You already know where that is" I said going back into the house

As I walked in, I heard the front door open and close. Then I made eye contact with David.

"Shit" I mumbled

"Is that Max again?" He asked

"Who else?" I smiled

"When is he gonna quit?" He asked

"Hopefully today" I said

"What makes you say that?" He asked

"We had a talk and-"

"You what?" He interrupted

"Chill. We had a talk and I told him that I was over with him and that he should go back to where he was because there's nothing left for him here" I said

David smiled widely and came up to me hugging me gently. Then he kissed my nose and walked to the kitchen.

"It's soooooo hot" he said opening the freezer and shoving his head in it.
