C h a p t e r 3 6

You walked into the bakery that your girlfriend worked in. She always loved baking so she chose to work here.

You walked up to the counter to find a surprised look on Casey's face.

"Hey baby." You said smiling. She ran around the counter and hugged you. You immediately hugged her back.

"I didn't know you were coming. I thought you were gonna be off at ten tonight." She said smiling.

"Lindsay let me off early. Very early." You told her.

"Great, wanna get sone lunch?" She asked. You nodded and grabbed her hand. You both walked out of the bakery and began debating on where to go.

You woke up with a huge pain in your head.

"Ouch!" You said, immediately trying to sooth the pain.

"Oh, no, no, no. I think you should stay lying down." A soft voice said as her warm fingers began soothing your temples.

You opened your eyes to find Casey still here. You gasped and sat up.

"Whoa- carful!" She said, grabbing your arm to help you up. You blinked a few times to see if this was really happening.

"Are you okay?" She asked. Her hand was still wrapped on your bicep. You tried to swallow the lump in your throat.

"I'm fine." You said, pulling your arm away from her hands. She looked kind of hurt at the sudden outburst but accepted it.

"I'm sorry.. This must be a lot to take in. I should let you get back to work." She said.

"Thanks.. Uh it was nice seeing you again." You said, trying to be nice. She smiled as you turned around and walked out.

When you left the bakery, you're breathing quickened and you swiftly walked to the café.

Everything felt horrible. She lives in the same city as you? And works on the same block as you?

"Hey.. Are you okay?" Ariana asked when you walked into the café. You didn't say anything but sat at the table she was at as she walked into the kitchen.

She came back minutes later with two cups of coffee.

"What's wrong? You look terrified." She said when she sat down. You sipped your coffee before you spoke.

"My ex girlfriend works at that bakery a few stores down." You told her. She didn't look as concerned as before.

"Oh.. Is that.. A bad thing?" She asked. You haven't told her or anyone but Niall about Casey.

"It's a long story." You told her but she grabbed your hand and squeezed it.

"Please. I wanna be here for you." She said. You swallowed before speaking up again.

"Okay."

After telling Ariana about Casey and her father leaving Miami to San Diego and her leading you on.. She looked almost angry but more sad.

"That's horrible.. Do you still wanna see her?" She asked. You thought about it for a moment before deciding no.

"No.. I mean it would be nice but I already have someone that I love.. And Casey.. She- I still love her and you can never be just friends with someone if you've fallen head over heels for them and still have crazy feels for them. That'd be impossible." You told her. She nodded understandingly. You both stood up unexpectedly at the same time so she hugged you.

"This must be hard for you. I just want you to know.. That I'm here for you. If you need anyone to talk to or someone to just listen.. Call me." She told you as you both rocked back and forth slowly. She finally pulled away and you smiled at her before she grabbed the cups and brought them into the kitchen.
