ABSTRACTION
as in state of being lost in thoughtNamjoon stares at his phone, blinking slowly as his heart beating rapidly. The grip on the phone tightened every second as he tried to collect himself; inhaled and exhaled in count of ten each time. He needs to calm himself before he loses his mind. Namjoon shut his eyes for a few seconds before he glared back at the message on the screen of his phone. He read it all over again, but the content remained the same. His mother's words were sharp, like arrows piercing through his mind. He could feel the weight of her disappointment even from miles away.
Namjoon sighed. His mother's messages were always dramatic. He rubbed his temples, the familiar ache settled behind his eyes. He loved his mother, he really did, but her reactions were – intense. Especially when it came to matters of his sister. And this, this was a big one.
Eomma: Hyuna called me, and she wasn't happy that you married her lover. Bring Seokjin to our house, I want to talk to him about this.
Namjoon's heart raced as he thought about the situation. Hyuna, who had always been the center of their lives, a golden child, was now a source of chaos. And Namjoon was the one who's been paying for the wrongful act of hers. He is still trying to cope with his new life with Seokjin. Even if Seokjin has been treating him a bit better than before but still his mother demand is unbearable.
Namjoon didn't have the gut to ask Seokjin about this. He knows what kind of reaction the said man will give to him. Even listening to Hyuna's name makes the older go mad, let alone talk about this. Namjoon didn't want to trigger his anger unnecessarily. Not when their relationship started to sail in a positive way. Namjoon typed the reply with a shaking hand.
I'll ask Seokjin first. But I'm not sure if he wants to talk about Hyuna at this moment. He is still angry...
His message went through, and Namjoon waits for his mother reply, heart beating so fast. It only takes 15 seconds for the reply and Namjoon sucked the air intensely.
It's an order, Namjoon! And don't lie to me because I know he still loves Hyuna!
The words stung like a sharp slap. Namjoon winced, as if someone had physically struck him. He felt a lump rise in his throat. He hadn't intended to lie, but in that moment, he knew any explanation would fall on deaf ears. His mother, a formidable woman with a sharp tongue and an even sharper mind, had always been convinced that Seokjin's relationship with Hyuna was far from over.
I'll tell him.
That's the only thing he can say to his mother. It's not even a promise but he knew his mother's word is mandatory. It's never NO for Namjoon. Namjoon only. He tossed his phone on the table, wincing at the thud sound but he couldn't care less whether his phone was broken or not. Namjoon sighed heavily as his eyes turned to the screen of his laptop. He stares at the whole paragraph he had been typing half an hour ago. He had the idea, a very good idea for his new novel. He was excited to write, and his adrenaline was on the top.
Now, it was gone. He could no longer think of anything. The rain of ideas had vanished like a mirage in the desert. It's not the main problem though. What makes him feel dreaded was how to tell Seokjin about this. Namjoon grimaced as he imagined Seokjin's face when he told the news. He got up and walked to the window. The rain was falling in sheets, mirroring the storm brewing inside him. He needed a distraction, a way to clear his head. He stares at the garden outside, sombre light illuminating the whole area as the water puddle on the grass.
A painful memory flashed in as his eyes fixated on the stormy weather.
He loves rain. He used to play under the rain when he was a kid. Jumping all around as the puddle splashed into his small body. His clothes were dirty, but Namjoon couldn't care less. He wanted to enjoy the moment. However, it was short-term enjoyment. His mother stood beside the door, hands on her waist while her eyes hawked on him. "Namjoon!" she shouted through her gritted teeth.
