Jungkook

Jimin hadn't left his room in over twenty-four hours.

Yes, Jungkook had counted. Everyone had. For Sam's sake, but also for Jimin's. Every hour that passed was important. Any second, Sam could go through a blood clot. VASCO and Sarah watched over him. Barrett handled the flying, not that there was much of it. The others did their leech duties and pretended everything was normal.

Jungkook wished he could do that. As executive officer, or XO for short, he had to handle everything in Jimin's absence. Overseeing leech inspections, ensuring the fridge remained stocked, feeding Marbles (though Andreja did that most days), setting up cooking schedules, and more Jungkook couldn't be bothered to remember in that moment.

The kitchen had bumps and creaks due to the air conditioning on full blast. Sam, all drugged up and dealing with hot flashes, had to remain chilled, so the rest of the crew dealt with the arctic temperatures; however, Jungkook didn't mind. Red Mile temperatures were far worse, and Jungkook had grown up there.

He sat in front of Kim Taehyung, who had Marbles cuddled up with him. Aside from Jimin, Marbles liked Taehyung the most. And Cora, but Cora was preoccupied in the infirmary. That meant Marbles had clung to Taehyung's side like it was going out of style. Jungkook did the same. Something about Taehyung's presence kept Jungkook's vision focused and his body free of sweat or random palpitations.
