Sophie's POV
I ate in the corner of the cafeteria, enjoying the peace of isolation.
The whole place was bustling but I was trying to find a quiet place to try to eat.
I sat there silently but occasionally my eyes drifted to Zach feeling increasingly guilty for ignoring him.
Just then I felt something coming at my face and I dodged quickly.
What the hell?
I picked it up and realized it was a used dirty napkin.
Disgusting.
I stood up and left the cafeteria and walked through the empty hallways.
I quickly entered the bathroom and shut the door behind me
The fluorescent lights buzzed overhead, casting an unflattering glare on the bathroom tiles. I leaned against the cool, tiled wall, my heart still racing from the chaotic day.
I raised my head and noticed Dorothy standing next to me
Dorothy stood beside me, biting her lip, her brow furrowed with concern.
"I can't believe I fell for it," I muttered, rubbing the back of my head where Bella had shoved me, earlier."Don't beat yourself up," Dorothy replied. "You were already in a fragile state. It's not your fault she's a—"
"—a total jerk? I know." I sighed, crossing my arms defensively.
A sudden noise cut through our conversation: soft giggles and whispers coming from the stalls.
Dorothy shot me a knowing look."Let's see what's happening over there,"Dorothy whispered, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
" Are you serious?" My voice dropped low, but Dorothy was already tiptoeing toward the sound.
I hesitated for a moment before following. We peeked through the cracked door of the last stall.
"Ugh, Theo, are you serious?" Bella's voice rang out, breathy and infuriatingly flirtatious.
"Come on, babe. Just a little kiss," Theo’s voice was smooth, dripping with confidence, and I felt bile rise in my throat.
Babe?! I repeated in my head.
"Here? Now?" Bella giggled, a sound that made my skin crawl.
"Why not? No one’s here."
"Except us," I whispered, my heart thrumming painfully in my chest.
"Shh!" Dorothy pushed my back, eyes wide.
I could barely breathe as I leaned closer, straining to hear the rest.
"I can't believe you used to be with him," Dorothy murmured, disbelief etched across her face.
My stomach twisted. " I know, right? This is the worst. I thought he was different."
The door to the stall creaked slightly, and my breath hitched. We pressed ourselves against the wall, trying to remain hidden.
"Come on, Bella. Just one kiss," Theo insisted, and I felt the weight of the room shift as I pictured his smug grin.
Gross.
"Fine,"Bella laughed, and a loud smacking sound echoed in the bathroom, followed by a flurry of giggles.
My stomach dropped. As I pushed away from the wall." I can’t watch this."
"Wait, wait!"Dorothy grabbed my arm, her eyes wide." What if they—"
" —what if they see us?"I hissed." I don't want to be part of this. I can’t believe I thought Theo was a decent person."
