24 hours. That's all you had left until the match that would determine whether you stayed or packed your bags. A game that would decide your fate. Or in your case, if you would meet the only perfect human being Julian Loki.

You should have been laser-focused on training, but Kuon had thrown a wrench into the team's dynamics, creating a tension that was impossible to ignore. The pressure of tomorrow's high-stakes game didn't help either.

Your stomach twisted into knots, nausea creeping up your throat.

How was it that if your team lost, Kuon would be the only one allowed to stay? The thought alone made cold sweat bead at your temples. It wasn't fair. He cheated!

You pinched the loose skin between your thumb and forefinger, a weak attempt to ground yourself.

At the very least, Iemon would be taking your place as goalie, but that came with its own problems. The one time he played, he didn't block a single shot. Meanwhile, in the one game you had played on the field, you hadn't even touched the ball.

Somehow, you had contributed more to the scoreboard as a goalie than as an actual "striker".

Kunigami spoke in a soft coddle, "[b/n], are you alright?"

You blinked out of your daze. Right, you were in the middle of yoga. Supposedly, it was meant to help you relax, but all it did was stir your anxiety into a boiling pot of nerves. Just what you needed.

"Yeah... sorry, got distracted."

There was an unspoken understanding between the two of you. Neither of you was willing to say it out loud, but both knew it was true.

If we lose, our careers are over.

You inhaled deeply, refocusing as you returned to your butterfly pose.

Before this, you hadn't cared whether you won or lost. You were only here pretending to be your brother, and his future meant nothing to you beyond the satisfaction of messing with him. Sure, you wanted to get back at Rin, but that had been more of a short-term lapse in judgment than a real goal.

But now? Now, you were willing to risk everything.

You deserved a better ending than this. You deserved to play against the World Five. You deserved so much more than what had been thrown at you since arriving here.

Stretching your legs out on the mat, you reached forward to grab your feet, stealing a glance at Kunigami. He was still locked in, repeating the same movement over and over.

Knee to palm. Knee to palm. Knee to palm.

The silence was eating you alive.

"Yo, Kunigami." You already regretted opening your mouth when he turned to look at you. "I talked to one of my sister's friends last night. Long story short I got her to consider going on a date with you after the U-20 match."
