七十一

I got up from my desk, finally finishing my pile of work and ready to get home. But then I think about my annoying brother that's at home, and suddenly thinking about how I don't wanna go back home.

I sighed, put my water bottle in my bag, and packed it up before leaving the office. I waited at the bus stop, and about minutes later, the bus arrived. I got on, sat on the first empty seat I got, and just stared out the windows.

I waited 3 stops, before it was the one I got off at. I thanked the driver, got off, and headed towards my home. Sometimes, sharing a home with my brother is hella annoying. He always brought his friends over for no reason, and they partied often into the night. 

When I always think I'm about to get a nice little nap, bam. Loud music. I fumbled in my bag for my keys, as I could hear music playing. He must've invited his goddamn friends over again. I sighed, and shoved the key in, and twisted the knob.

"Wait!" I hear a voice behind me yell, before I get the chance to walk inside, and close the door. I turned around, to see my brother's best friend running towards me. "Thank you Paul's sister!" He smiles at me.

I immediately felt myself swoon for him. "Ah, ahem. It's not a problem." I said, rubbing my neck shyly. I walked in, as he follows and he closes the door behind himself. 

"Hey sis? You're home already? I have some friends over!" My brother yells over the loud music that he's blasting. Mhm. As if I can't tell, and I'm a deaf blind ol' rat. I rolled my eyes at that, and kicked my shoes off.

I grabbed a pair of slippers for me and Arda, as I immediately slipped mine on and went to the kitchen to grab myself something to eat. I'm literally starving. I have eaten since lunch! That's such a long time for me. I immediately start drooling, as I see chocolate pudding in the fridge.

I grabbed it, and went to the cabinets to look for a spoon. "Ah. Found it." I smiled, and quickly grabbed one. I went to my room, taking a book I just started reading yesterday, and began to chow down the pudding as I read.

After a while, I finished my pudding, and I went outside to grab more. The sight outside only made me want to vomit in disgust. My brother and his friends were all wasted, sprawled across the floor, on the tables, couch, chairs...you name it.

I could see Arda cleaning up the bottles, as he noticed me and gave me a small nod of a greeting. I nodded back, but felt a little bad for him. I can't just let him, a guest do all the cleaning. Without saying anything, I started cleaning with him. 

He carried all the males to my brother's bedroom as we finished cleaning everything. "Wanna watch the stars with me?" I ask him, breaking the silence. He looks at me, a little surprised, before nodding. I smiled, held his hands, and led him to the staircase which led to the roof.

"It's pretty isn't it?" I asked, a short while after he was staring up at the sky. I was telling him different stories about the stars, and why they were important. Then, I remembered something I haven't used in so long. "Wait. I'll be right back.

I went down the staircase and rushed to my room to find something. I flipped through every corner of my room, before finding it. Once I found it, I ran back up, and showed it to him. "Ta-da! A telescope!" I smiled.

"When'd you get it?" He asked, staring at it in amazement. I proudly showed it off, and let him use it as I explained how everything worked out, and told him who gave it to me.

"My mother and father gifted it to me a long time ago. But I've barely used it anymore, ever since their deaths." I said sadly. I touched the telescope gently, remembering the good old days. The days when I would sit in this same exact spot and stare at the sky.

"It's wonderful." He smiles. But then he realized how he made his words sound weird and got flustered. "I-I meant the telescope-not the deaths! Oh my god, I really need to think before I speak next time." He burrows his face into his hands as I laugh.

"Oh no, I understand what you mean." I said, smiling at him. He sighs in relief. I always wonder how someone like him is friends with my brother. I looked into the telescope myself and smiled. It's nice. Being like this...all alone with him. He makes me feel...calm.

I suddenly grabbed his hands, making him jump a little. "Is something the matter?" He asks, as I stare deep at him. He was just so cute!" I coughed, preparing my next words, as I didn't wanna turn myself into a complete laughing stock just yet.

"I like you." I said, straightforward and all. At first, it looked as if he was glitching. It would've been funnier if the loading signal was above him. He pointed to me. before pointing it to himself, and looked around a couple of times to make sure I wasn't saying it to someone else.

Next, he pinched himself, trying to see if this was a dream and all. I laughed softly, seeing him act so confused, and so excited. "Are you...joking? This must be a prank-where's the camera?" He asks, still shocked. I laugh at him, telling him it's no prank, as he practically lights up.

"Oh my god...yes! I've liked you too for such a long time-I know your favorite things- omg I basically know everything about you-I'm just so happy!" He laughs, before stopping and realizing how back his words sounded again.

"Oh my god, I didn't mean to say it like that!" His face flushes, and he shakes his head at me. I guess this is my new start. Sometimes, we just can't hold onto every precious we have. But even so, we can always start new precious memories with new people.
