You followed Majora outside to the limo, ready to go. The sunset painted the sky a vibrant palette of warm colors, which you admired while stepping into the car.
"This is going to be kind of a long ride, so you might want to settle in." Majora smirked, "But lucky for you, getting to spend so much time with me. How has the rest of your day been anyway?" He adjusted his sleeves, tugging at the cuffs. "I'm sure nothing interesting, not with Wild or Twi at least." His snarky tone didn't go unnoticed.
"It's actually been really good." You responded, not appreciating his cruelness. Majora furrowed his eyebrows.
"You spare no details huh." He quipped, narrowing his eyes. "I'm trying to get a sense of what I'm up against here."
"Well, Wild took me to a shoot for his new modelling agency, and Twi took me to his mansion." Majora opened and closed his mouth a few times. "Oh? Are you nervous someones going to sweep me off my feet before you can?" You teased, the playful edge in your voice meant to lighten the mood. Majora's expression hardened, and his silence made you realize that maybe he hadn't taken it as a joke.
"Whatever." He scoffed, and looked out the window, a thick silence settling between you. You could feel the awkwardness pressing in, so you decided to break it.
"Long car ride you said? Where are we heading anyway?" Majora finnicked with a small threaded bracelet on his wrist.
"I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise." Majora said, crossly. He paused for a moment before his expression seemed to soften. "But I can give you a hint, I guess."
"Ok, what's the hint?" You offered him a grin.
"Let me think." Majora tapped his finger against the car handle. "How well do you know your history?" He asked.
"I'd like to think I know a decent amount." You wracked your brain, straining to recall your Academy's various history classes.
"How much do you know about the Hylian Wars?" Majora pressed.
"I remember the War of the Goddesses, obviously. That was my favorite story to hear about as a kid."
"That happened centuries ago. Think of one that was more recent." Majora hinted.
You tilted your head, "What, like the Imprisoning war?"
"Yes," Majora nodded. "Remember what happened?"
"How could I not? Everybody knows about the Imprisoning War. One hundred years ago, the Demon King was released by the leader of the Twilight Order. The seven sages fought to seal him away, but all died in the process, and Hyrule was left a total wreck. We still haven't fully recovered from the damages."
"Look at you, history buff." Majora cracked a smile.
"I always had a knack for history." You smirked, glad Majora was starting to let loose a little.
"Is that so? Then do you remember how the Twilight Order was able to release Demise?"
"Hmm..." You closed your eyes, face pinched in concentration as you tried to remember what you were taught from your school's textbooks. Your eyes shot open, "Oh I got it! It was because the planets of our solar system, the Celestial Veil, were in complete alignment."
"Right again. Except that's not all of it. Many people don't know the technicalities of it," Majora exhaled on the limo window, covering it in condensation. He drew seven circles, and a horizontal line below them. "It wasn't just the planets physically aligning that allowed the Twilight Order to perform their ritual, they also aligned spiritually. The alignment meant our realm and the sacred realm-" He drew two curved lines slowly growing closer to one another but curving away before making contact. "-almost overlapped. The proximity of the realms meant that the seal on the gate between them was exceptionally weaker." Majora seemed to enjoy talking about this stuff, which came as a big surprise to you.
