* Hello everyone! I had the greatest opportunity to interview my favorite author of all time! Her username is MyHeartsMistake! Her real name is Katie! She is the best writer and a great role model and inspiration to all people looking to pursue a career in writing! So without Further or do  here is my interview with the amazing Katie/MyHeartsMistake!

***************************

Me- So Katie! When did you realize that you wanted to a writer and what pushed you to make that first step?

Katie- I never really had a moment of "hey I want to be a writer". From a young age I just really liked being able to know how a story would end. As I got older, I took it more seriously. I love that I can be in charge of what happens to the characters because in real life, you can't really know how things are going to go. I think that's why I started writing.

***************************

Me- Would you rather be a Vegetarian or a Vegan?/Why?

Katie- I actually was a vegetarian for a while. I don't know if I could ever be a vegan, especially with college and my family. I also love bacon way too much for it to last more than a few months.

***************************

Me- So Katie,In my opinion, most of your works are meant to teach your audience a lesson of some sorts. I also realized that you tend to write sad ending that make you want to cry. But the audience is not suppose to cry sad tears but happy ones. Would you say that is what your goal is while writing one of these short stories?

Katie- I can't say I purposely write these stories with the goal of making people cry. With stories like September, it was an issue that was really close to me at the time. With Saving Summer it was because of a song that I heard. I think that if someone reads my story and understands something better than they had before, I did what I have always hoped to do. Which is show people that just because you're not experiencing something, doesn't mean it's not happening.

***************************

Me- I saw on your blog that you have written about your anxiety. Would you say that it was more calmer now or would you say that its gotten less calmer?

Katie- It comes and goes. The thing about anxiety is that it's very hard to explain. I usually have anxiety when it comes to going places I haven't gone before or somewhere I don't know anybody. It's all about learning how to cope with it. I've struggled for so many years and done so many different things and I'm just hoping to find something that will resonate with my mind.

***************************

Me- I heard that you got accepted into your dream college in new York city! { congratulations! } How did you feel when you got the acceptance letter? Also what are you the most excited about when you move to new York city? what are some things your not so excited about?

Katie- I kind of knew I would be accepted because I met all the requirements but to actually have the acceptance letter was nice. I'm excited to be near Broadway! I'm a huge theatre person so that'll be awesome. I think the only thing I'm not looking forward to is being over 5,000 miles from home. Go big or go home, I guess!

***************************

Me- Every person when they grow up still has a kid side to them. What kid show do you still love to watch on tv? [ Ex. SpongeBob ]

Katie- I actually don't watch TV. I watch Netflix occasionally but don't usually watch television.

***************************

Me- If you had to recommend one of your books to a stranger which one would you recommend and why?

Katie-I'm not sure, honestly. I think it depends on who I would be recommending it to.

***************************

Me- What does it take for you to follow someone? Do they need a lot of followers? A lot of views on a book?

Katie- Honestly, I don't really follow people. I follow close friends (mostly people I know in real life) and that's about it. It's not an egotistical thing, I just don't think much about it.

****************************

Me- You made an announcement that there was a forest fire near your home. How did the fire start? What did it destroy/ side effects afterward. And how are you family and neighbors doing?

Katie- Yeah it was a pretty big brush fire. There's an old sugar cane field behind my house that had a lot of trees. We've had a pretty dry season so it started in the middle of the field and spread so quickly that it bordered our neighborhood. It was put out before it destroyed any homes but it came pretty close and burned over 200 acres. We have the firemen come out every once in a while to check it and it still smells pretty bad, but everyone is okay and all it did was leave a lot of burned trees.

****************************

Me- Katie, If you had to say one thing to your followers what would you say to them?

Katie- You guys are awesome and I appreciate you sticking with me for the past few years.

****************************

Me- What would you tell someone who wanted to pursue a career in writing?

Katie- Be persistent. It's hard to get a book published, but it's possible. Make sure you're doing it for the right reasons and not for the famous side of it. It also takes a lot of failed attempts - most published writers have many stories that never saw the light of day. If it's what you want to do, find people to talk to about it with. Don't assume you can do it all on your own.

***************************

Me- Who are your outside of wattpad inspirations? And who are your wattpad inspirations?

Katie- I'd have to say Diane Motts Davidson and Jodi Picoult. I actually just finished rereading Jodi Picoult's story Plain Truth which is one of my favorite books of all time! And for Wattpad-wise... I don't really have one. I've been on this site for over four years so I've seen a lot come and go. I love Jordan Lynde because her books were some of the first I read on here, but I really wouldn't say she was an inspiration, I just love her writing style and plot ideas.

***************************

Me- what are some of your other hobbies, than writing?

Katie- I love cooking! And spending time with kids. I also really love going to the beach and adventuring around Oahu because it's such a beautiful place to live that I don't want to take it for granted :)

***************************

Me- Here's a random question for you, what is your favorite flavor of gum and why do you love that flavor?

Katie- I love all gum. But my go-to is usually mint because I hate having bad breath and mint gum easily hides it haha
