Y/N L/N was an "ordinary" boy with an unshakable love for light novels, manga, games and anime, particularly one gripping tale of a world teetering on the edge of ruin. But what happens when the lines between fiction and reality blur, pulling him in...
The sun above was already setting, casting golden rays that filtered through the thick trees of the Clemaldy Forest, painting everything with warm light and a deceptive sense of peace.
Y/N sat near the back of the carriage, his eyes lost in the blur of the woods outside. Zarestia was beside him, silent, her presence steady and watchful-as always. The occasional rustle of her white hair brushing against his shoulder was the only sign she was even there, not just another passing thought.
It was quiet. Too quiet, maybe. Even Otto at the reins, guiding Patrasche with his Divine Protection, hadn't said much in the last half hour.
The usual tension was missing-no quips from Subaru, no sudden questions from Emilia.
Just a rare stillness.
Y/N's gaze drifted to Zarestia's reflection in the glass. She looked calm, content even, but he knew better. She had plans.
He was getting better and better at reading her, and he knew she was thinking about something. He just didn't know what It was.
Then, without warning-
[Subaru]: "AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!"
Subaru's scream shattered the silence inside the carriage like a glass pane hit by a stone. Y/N jerked up instinctively, turning to the source, only to be met with a blinding flash of blue-white light that filled the confined space.
The crystal.
Everything disappeared in that moment. The walls of the carriage. The weight of the sword. The presence of the others.
All gone.
The world snapped back into focus in the blink of an eye, but they were no longer on the road. They were standing in the middle of a clearing. A wind passed through the tall grass around them.
[Subaru]: "Ahm... Y/N, where are we...?"
Subaru asked, his voice slightly shaky.
Y/N didn't answer right away. He looked around slowly, taking in the surroundings. Trees loomed in every direction, but ahead, just a few paces away, stood a girl.
