Fun fact!

Synesthesia is actually a real life neurological condition where the senses get mixed up.

> For example, someone with synesthesia might see colors when they hear music, or taste shapes when they read words. It's like the brain connects things that usually stay separate.

I had fun with this quirk! ☺️

Quirk: Synesthesia

Type: Emitter

Description:

Synesthesia grants the user a heightened and rewired sensory network. They perceive the world through cross-linked sensory input, turning sound into color, taste into emotion, and scent into shape. This re-mapping creates a 3D emotional-sensory battlefield, where everything is layered with cues invisible to others.

More than just enhanced perception, the user can extend this altered state outward, disrupting how enemies perceive reality. This causes momentary confusion, misjudgment, and loss of coordination-perfect for controlling the flow of combat or dismantling enemy formations.

Abilities

1. Sensory Mapping (Passive / Recon-Support)

The user's senses operate in multi-layered harmony, creating a real-time data map of their environment. Each sense can "translate" into another, enhancing detection and interpretation:

Sound → Color: Vibration-based vision-footsteps glow, voices ripple, hidden movement flickers.

Smell → Texture/Shape: Scent trails are mapped as 3D constructs, enabling advanced tracking.

Taste → Emotion: Airborne hormonal signals can be "tasted" to gauge someone's emotional intent or lies.

Touch → Directional Sound: Contact with objects produces ambient "echoes," even behind walls.

This allows the user to fight or track without line of sight, and to pick up on emotional spikes or subtle changes in terrain.

2. Sensory Projection (Active / Debuff-Control)

The user can project cross-wired senses into a target's brain, scrambling their perception of reality. This can be applied to single targets or small groups (within range):

Examples:

A scream tastes like iron → causes pain, confusion, gag reflex

Lights buzz like drills → opponent covers ears, disoriented

Ground feels like it's swaying or melting → interrupts balance, aim

Touch feels like being burned → stops melee engagement

Effect Duration: 5-25 seconds depending on user's stamina, concentration, and target resistance

Advanced Control:

With training, the user can "customize" projections to trigger panic responses based on enemy quirk type or psychological weakness.

3. Synesthetic Pulse (AoE Sensory Shockwave)

A close-range burst that overloads sensory input.

Used to break formations, interrupt quirk concentration, or trigger panic.
