Chapter Thirty-Five

Klaus had called a meeting of the faction. I didn't know how he had convinced them all that he was one of the members, but that didn't matter.

As we walked up to the bar, I smirked at Klaus when I heard the police chief speaking. "Next time you want to criticize our leadership, send a damn email," he said, directing his rude tone at Kieran.

"I thought you called this meeting," Kieran said, the realization coming over him.

"The hell we did," the chief replied.

I smiled at Klaus before we both walked in.

"Actually, we called it," Klaus said, and the members of the faction all looked at him with amused expressions. "It appears I made a grave error during our earlier conference. My friend Marcel offered me wise counsel and I failed to heed it."

The chief stared at Klaus smugly. "I'm glad to hear you've learned your lesson."

"Oh, I won't be making that mistake again," Klaus smirked. "Marcel!"

Marcel sped up behind the chief, taking a utensil from the table and stabbing it into his neck. He pulled it out, causing the chief to almost instantly bleed out. He put a hand over his wound, his eyes beginning to glaze over quite quickly. Marcel laughed while the other members of the faction screamed.

They were all frozen, but I could tell that they were going to run any second.

"Shall we?" Klaus smirked, looking over at Marcel and I.

Marcel snickered, then gestured to the faction. "Ladies first."

I grinned in reply.

It seemed like only a few seconds had passed when all of the faction member's were dead on the floor, except for Kieran.

I sat on one of the tables, where the body of the police chief was laying. I pulled him up so that my arms were around his shoulders, then sunk my fangs into his neck. When I was done, I pulled away and wiped my lips with my thumb. "For a pompous ass," Klaus looked over at me when I quoted his words. "He tastes pretty good."

Klaus walked over to the man, who seemed to be somewhere in between pissed off and horrified. "There he is," He pointed at Kieran. "Our lone survivor."

"Nikky, please be nice for once," I sighed.

"Such a sad day for our city," Klaus said, smirking at me, then patting Kieran on the back. KIeran flinched when he did, but didn't back down. "Some of it's best and brightest killed in a tragic boating accident on the Mississippi. Rather nasty explosion, I heard," his amused expression faded slowly as he turned Kieran to look him in the eye. "What am I going to do with you?"

"Okay, calm it down, Nik," I said.

Marcel stood up, finishing his feeding time and nodding in agreement. "I've known Kieran for a long time. He's smart, and he's fair. Alright, he can do us more good alive than dead. Not to mention, he's Cami's uncle."

Klaus narrowed his eyes at Marcel, and I giggled when I realized that Marcel was right. I guess that Nikky seemed to have a new liking to his therapist.
