I had walked away mid-story, seeing heartbreak in the Allison's eyes as Scott told her the tale of that night at the rave. There was no way I was feeling a tinge of remorse for this girl, so I went off in search for an exit. But instead, I found myself wandering downstairs and through a dark hallway. The scent of a strong chemical cleaner was wafting up my nose. Was that ammonia? I highly doubted Alpha werewolves cleaned up this bank. The soles of my combat boots squeaked as I stepped in a liquid. I looked down and saw said liquid trailing from the supply closet to where I stood. I slowly walked towards the supply closet and opened the door. With just one step into the closet my air supply was cut off and replaced with the overwhelming scent of ammonia. I lifted my hand to the closet wall to fumble for a light switch. There was none. Taking my phone out of my back pocket, I turned on its built-in flashlight and shined it to my feet. I was standing on a drenched black jacket. Next to to it, was a tipped over bottle of ammonia. I could smell something besides the strong chemical cleanser that tickled my nose. I couldn't pin point the smell, but I didn't think I wanted to either. Whatever it was smelled—I let out a mixture between a scream and a gasp, and I stumbled back against the wall. The beam of light from my phone shined on Erica's dead body. She was slumped down on the floor. Her head hung limp while her skin was pale and dirty, lined with veins. Her usually flawless blonde curls were matted with blood and dirt. I let out a shaky breath as I stared at the girl. But as scared as I was, I slowly walked forward and crouched beside her. How long was she dead for? How and why did they kill her? I may not have known how they killed her, but I could guarantee it was violently.

"I'm sorry." I muttered, pushing a piece of blonde hair out of her dead face. "I'm so, so sorry." The tips of my fingers brushed over her cheek and retracted at how cold her body was. My other hand began quivering, as did my lips. My hand slowly lifted and covered my mouth, but I couldn't feel anything. And it wasn't because I had just touched a dead body (hey, I've done that plenty of times before, right?) but because I was so upset. Erica had gone through so much already, and they killed her. They didn't even give her a chance. I heard footsteps appear behind me, but I already knew who it was.

"They made their move. We need to make ours." I announced. I stood up and turned around to see the heartbroken expression upon Derek's face. It stabbed me in the heart as well. He let one of his betas down, there was no doubt this was going to kill him.

"Derek, I've got it. He's with me. Yeah, I'll be there soon. Bye." I hung up the phone and tossed it in the cup holder of my car. From the corner of my eye, I could see Isaac staring at me from the passenger seat. Not to mention, I could feel his glare on me.
