"Shutting down?" fifteen year old, Elizabeth Maryn, questioned her mother.

"Honey, I'm sorry, there's nothing we can do."

Elizabeth's father stepped into the conversation, "Elizabeth, we can't do anything else."

"But I can't be a real witch if I don't finish school," she felt on the bridge of tears. The relief she felt with such an illegal and downright cruel institution being halted was overshadowed by her fear that her capabilities would be wasted.

There was silence for a few moments. "Joseph," her mother addressed her father. "There is one option."

He looked at her, "What is it?"

"There's a school... in Scotland. I don't know if they'll accept her because we live in America, but we can try."

"That might work," her father's eyes lit up. "We can send an owl tonight and apparate there tomorrow and try to reason with them."

"Can I come?" Elizabeth asked, with a hopeful expression.

"I don't think that's a good idea. If you get attached to the school and it turns out you can't attend it, it would upset you," her mother told her. She frowned, realizing her mother was right.

"Alright," Elizabeth nodded her head.

Her mother stood up, "I'll get started on the letter."

She walked away and Elizabeth hugged her father. "Please help me go to this school."

"I will, Elizabeth, I will," he patted her head and walked to the study to help his wife with the owl.

Elizabeth walked up to her room and laid down on her bed, stuffing her head into the white feather pillows. Across the room, her eyes landed on a card that her best friend had sent her for her seventh birthday. It was the birthday party where Elizabeth's magical powers had started showing.

She was going down the slide at the park, while her muggle friends all waited in a line behind. Elizabeth noticed that her cousin, Alliah was about to fall on her head from the monkey bars. In a quick second, she felt a strain in the back of her head and Alliah was levitating in the air like a dragonfly. Elizabeth's aunt quickly yanked her daughter down from the air. She knew of her sister's abilities and knew what Elizabeth had done. Elizabeth's parents ran over to her and pulled her away, asking her what she had done and how she had done it.

Soon after looking at the card, she fell asleep, dreaming of Hogwarts.

"Honey," Elizabeth felt a tap on her arm. It was her mother. "You slept through the day. Your father and I are going to apparate to Hogwarts. The headmaster said they'd consider accepting you."

She sat up, "Really mother?"

"Really," she replied. "We're going soon, but I will see you tonight." She kissed her head and left.

"I love you mother!" she called as her mother exited the door.

Elizabeth waited and waited for hours for them to come back or send an owl. Her dog ran into her room and jumped up onto her bed. "Greg, I really want to get into this school," Elizabeth told her dog.

He simply pawed her thigh and laid his head down on her lap. "You don't understand a word I say, hm?" Greg licked his lips and she pat his head.

Suddenly, Elizabeth heard a loud clap in the living room. She rushed out and Greg followed after her, trotting behind with his tongue hanging out. "So? What did they say?" Elizabeth asked eagerly.

"They said you could attend, but you have to be in class on Monday and be there Sunday night," her father told her.

"But father, in a few hours, it'll be Sunday!" Elizabeth exclaimed.

"That's why you need to get to sleep now and pack tomorrow. The train leaves at eleven o'clock, so if you wake up at nine, get packed by ten and we apparate there by at least ten thirty, you'll make the train," her mother explained.

Elizabeth suddenly realized the downside, "How will we ever have time to get my supplies?"

Her father held up a bag, "The school was a step ahead. They provided you with an owl that will be in your dormitory when you arrive there. The headmaster also informed me that a student will be waiting at the station near Hogwarts to go with you to the grounds."

"Oh my god, I'm going to Hogwarts," she beamed as the realization hit her. "It is the best wizarding school in the world!"

"You need to go to sleep darling. You need your rest."

"Alright," she kissed both of her parents cheeks and ran off to her room. She changed into her nightdress and got into bed.

Elizabeth smiled into her pillow and laughed to herself. "I'm going to Hogwarts."
