Lorrie-
"Remember, Lorrie," Benny corrects me for the fourth time at least since w e started over an hour ago. "Step leap, leap, then the leap and spin."
"I know. Trust me. I know." I sigh, "But how about you try telling that to my feet." I tell him. He stifles a laugh. He opens his mouth to do it, but I continue, "Sorry, I just cannot for the life of me get this one dance right. And I don't know why. No matter how hard I try I just keep doing it wrong." I sit on the floor sweaty and exhausted. It's really late.
"Sis, it's not your fault. It's a hard dance to master. Let's try it one more time. Who knows, maybe I'll finally get the other part right?" He smiles and gives me and hand up. He starts the song again. "5 6 7 8." I finally get each step right with the spin included. The spin was perfect. My landing was good until my foot hit the ground and the rest of me follows. "Lorrie!" Benny quickly shuts the music off and races to me.
"Help." I squeak my foot is throbbing with pain. I think I heard a break. "Get the car. I think I broke my foot."
"Wait right here." He tells me, it's not like I can go anywhere. He races upstairs and returns with a pair of crutches, "I've called Mrs. Lane she's on her way over to sit with Nikki. At least until we get back." He says helping me stand up with the crutches he follows closely behind me as we make our way out of the basement. What a night.
