I didn't really care for this whole carnival thing but it was quality time with my cousin, and the sooner she did all that she wanted to do in here, the faster we could leave.

"That man cheated me! I won that jumbo teddy bear," Yasmine said before sucking her teeth long and hard.

"Damn, maybe you should stop eating that pretzel" I said

"Why?" She paused and looked down at it, wondering if something was wrong

"Cause we been to 6 other booths and you still salty over that teddy bear,"

I laughed hard as she rolled her eyes and flipped me the bird.

"Alright it's 6:30...we been here for 2 hours already. Can we go?" I asked her after my bout of laughter ended.

"Oh not yet. Let's go in here!" She tapped me on my shoulder to get my attention

I frowned, " Madame Louise- Fortune teller?"

"Yeah! I always wanted to get my palms read" she said excited and began walking briskly towards the area.

I took a deep breath before following suit.

I shifted the dark burgundy drapes that were the entrance and looked inside. As my eyes readjusted to the darkness, I saw Yasmine observing the room like I was doing.

There wasn't much, apart for some voodoo looking dolls on a nearby table and another table with two chairs on either side.

"Greetings," a grainy older voice said as a tall, pretty woman emerged from a back room.

She wore dark navy lipstick which complimented her light brown skin tone, and her hair was pulled back into a chiffon bun.

"You Madame Louise?" Yasmine asked.

"Yes I am mon cherie," she said with a look of accomplishment on her face

"You don't look like a fortune teller," I said to her

She turned her focus over to me.
"Oh I'm sorry I didn't know there was specific criteria for looking like a fortune teller," she said with a hint of sarcasm

Yasmine snickered under her breath at Madame Louise's response.

"Well I'm here to get my palms read Madame," Yas said happily

"I know. Come, come" she ushered Yasmine to one of the chairs.

I folded my arms and looked on.

After they both got settled in, she took Yasmine's hands in hers as she closed her eyes.

Her gold bangles jingled altogether as her thumbs traced Yasmine's palms.

"I see you're a great helper. Always willing to assist- that's going to play a major roll in someone's life very soon," Madame Louise stated.

"You're love life wont flourish just yet. More likely in the next 2 years."

I cleared my throat thinking what a load of bull this was. Madame Louise opened one eye and glanced at me before continuing.

"Success, fortune." She said as I took a deep breath this time

She opened up both her eyes as her head slowly turned towards me. "That's all" she said through clenched teeth.

Yasmine opened her eyes as she smiled on, "thank you Madame"

"Thank God," I said softly getting ready to leave.

"Wait. You," she called to me as I stopped and gave her my full attention

"Can I have a word with you before you leave?"

"No thanks Madame, I'd rather not have my future told to me" I replied to her

"Don't be rude T. I'll be outside waiting," Yasmine said before exiting through the thick drapes.

"So you don't believe in my craft?" She placed one hand on the table and leaned on it saying

"Wowww. You see that too?" I said sarcastically acting impressed

"No. Certain things are just obvious," she caught on to my snark remark.

"But...I'd like to prove to you that I am for real," she finished

I snorted loudly, " and how would you do that?"

"By giving you you're one true desire," she said with a small smirk

"Okayyy then Madame Louise, I think it's time I leave and stay off the lean will ya?" I said just about to turn around

"Come on now Truth, what's the worst that could happen?" She said as she unfolded a table cloth.

I frowned at her wondering how she knew my name, but thought Yasmine must've mentioned it while we were in here.

"No she called you T, not Truth " she said as she smoothed the cloth over the table.

What the f...

My eyes widened, " how...how..did you do that?"

"That's not the only thing I can do for you Truth" she said as she pointed to the chair in front the table....
