Fast.

My heart is beating so fast.

Oh shit. What have I done?

I was currently waiting at the main doors of the school, waiting on Kane.

People gave me weird looks as they passed me on their way home.

Basically, I was pacing back and forth, chastising myself about my stupidity.

How stupid can you get, Brin?

A hand clamped down my shoulder, and I let out a blood curdling scream.

"Brin! Chill, it's okay. It's just me, Kane!"

My body froze, and I stopped breathing.

"Geez, you'd think I was about to kill you," he grumbled.

I relaxed and let out a forced laugh.

It didn't go unnoticed by Kane either.

He narrowed his eyes at me, "Are you okay?"

I gulped and nodded.

He shrugged his shoulders and wrapped his arm around me.

"Let's go," he said as he led me to his car.

"Where are we going?"

He looked down at me, "Going to meet a friend you once knew."

I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion. Who is he talking about?

~

I was retrained.

My hands would not move, and all I could see was darkness.

I shifted, and flinched when the ropes bit into the sensitive skin of my wrists.

"Stop moving or you'll get hurt even more," a familiar voice said.

My blood ran cold.

"Who are you?" I asked shakily.

Suddenly, a loud booming laugh sounded throughout the room.

"You know who I am, mahal."

Where have I heard that nickname before?

"Or maybe you don't. You had amnesia right? I'm a little disappointed in myself. I should've just killed you," he growled.

"W-what?"

I heard footsteps come near me, "Poor little Brinley. You know, if you hadn't walked in on us, you wouldn't be in this situation."

My eyebrows furrowed. What is he talking about?

Suddenly, there was a sharp pain in my forehead, and I sucked in a sharp breath.

"I can't wait to surprise him!" I said excitedly.

Maki rolled her eyes, "That's all you've been talking about this week, Brin."

I smiled sheepishly at her, "Sorry."

She shook her head and smiled anyway, "Go and surprise your lover already!"

I giggled and complied with her order.

Driving to Ace's house was nerve wracking. I didn't know if he would like his present.

I finally pulled in his driveway.

I knocked on his front door and was greeted by his mom.

"Brinley! Great to see you again. Go on up. He's in his room with Kane.

"Kane?" I asked her.

She nodded and motioned me in, "Apparently, Kane needed help with his laptop."

I smiled in understanding and nodded, "Alright, I'll just head on up then, Linda."

"Go on, dear," she said sweetly.

I walked up the steps slowly and arrived at his door. I took a deep breath and grabbed the door handle.

"Happy Brirthd-" the words were forgotten as I saw the scene in front of me.

Kane and Ace. Kane underneath Ace.

They both jumped apart and stared at my horrified expression.

"What is...?" I didn't have the courage to finish the sentence.

They both stood beside each other. Both looked disheveled, and were breathing hard. As if they were running a marathon.

I scoffed. As if, Brin, as if.

Kane was the first to speak, "Brinley, it's not what it looks like."

It was Ace's turn, "Mahal, love, I swear it's not."

My eyes examined his half nakedness and scoffed.

"What it looks like is that you're getting down with my boyfriend."

"Brinley, please."

I shook my head and turned around.

"I don't ever want to speak to you."

I gasped as it came back to me.

"I see you've remembered something.

"Ace?"

He clapped his hands, making me jump.

"And we have a winner!"

He came close to me, so close that I could feel his hot, sticky breath on my neck, and whispered the words that made goosebumps rise.

"It's time for your prize."
