You can fall in love with the most unexpected person at the most unexpected time. ~ Unknown
I went out to my car and jumped in, putting the key into the ignition and turned it. The car came to life with a rumble, and the radio softly hummed. I turned it up and heard the song 'Alone Together' by Fall Out Boy playing.
I smiled and bobbed my head to the beat, lightly tapping my fingers against the steering wheel as I mouthed the words. I then began to drive, soon droplets of rain began to appear on the windshield. Nothing better than a calming drive at night with some rain and good music.
I continued to drive, and about fifteen minutes in, I looked out of my window for no reason but to take in the beautiful scenery that was all around me.
I saw a man, getting drenched in the now steadily falling rain. His hand hovered over a cigarette that was placed in his mouth, an agitated look across his features.
I slowed my car to a stop and rolled down my window and, being the nice person I am, said, "Hey! Purple guy! Hop on in!" The man's head snapped over to me, his cigarette now getting wet. He jogged over to the car and to the passenger side.
He opened the car door and got in, dripping wet from the rain. I unbuckled myself and crawled into the back. I found a towel and crawled back up to the front, hearing the man chuckling, then handed him the towel.
"Thanks, for everything." He said, his voice raspy and deep. I just noticed that his whole sprite was purple, excluding his opaque eyes and bright white teeth. He had stubble on his chin, and his purple hair was pulled back in a ponytail.
"No problem." I said and looked back at the road, starting the car back up, "What's your name?" "Vincent, and you must be gorgeous." The man, Vincent, answered, I giggled. That was pretty good. "No, but close. I'm (Y/n) (L/n), nice to meet ya', Vincent." I said and held one of my hands towards him.
He took my hand and shook it, "Likewise. But, it's good to meet you too." "Likewise." I smirked and released his hand. Before I began the drive, I turned the inside light on and dug through all of the CDs I had.
I settled on (Fav. Band/Singer) and slid the disk into the CD player. I turned the light back off and looked over to Vincent, I was going to ask where he was going but he said something first.
"What's with all the bruises?" Vincent asked.
"Fell down the stairs."
The words rolled off of my tongue before I could even think, that's how used to making up excuses I was. That even my tongue knew every excuse like it knew every taste.
Sad.
Vincent was silent. I know that he knows differently, the silence indicated that. I softly sighed and piped up, trying to break the somewhat awkward silence, "Where you heading?" "Oh," he started, "Somewhere not here. Not home."
I laughed, "Didn't know we were heading the same way."
"I don't know where you're going, but do you got room for one more troubled soul?" He asked in a singing voice, I smiled and sang, "I don't know where I'm going but I'm not coming home!"
We both busted out into laughter and I playfully punched his shoulder, "Let's be friends." "Sounds good to me." He said. I smiled and turned up the music, maybe everything will be okay.
I saw the sun was beginning to rise and I sped up, "We better hurry." I muttered. "Why the rush?" Vincent asked. "We don't wanna miss the sun rise!" I said, worried I wouldn't make it to the secret place in time. "Where are we going?" He asked. "To my secret place... don't show anyone it, okay?" I said. "Alright." He said.
"Pinkie promise on it. And if you break the promise, I get to break your pinkie." I said casually and held out one of my hands, the other steering. It had all fingers except the pinkie down.
I heard Vincent chuckle and I felt his pinkie wrap around mine, it felt like he had calluses. "I pinkie promise." He said and I smiled, "Thank you." He unwrapped his pinkie after giving my hand one good shake.
I placed my hand back on the steering wheel. "Remember, you break it I'll break your pinkie~!" I said in a way too cheerful voice, smirking. "I have a feeling we are going to be the best of friends." Vincent said, I could practically hear him smiling.
"I do too." I said. I turned my head to look at him, and slowed the car a bit. He placed a unlit cigarette between his thin lips, then pulled out a purple lighter. He rolled the top and a little flame danced it's way out of the lighter. He lit up the cigarette then placed the lighter back in his shirt pocket, where the pack of cigarettes were aswell.
He took a puff then faced me, blowing smoke into my face. I turned my head away from him, a coughing mess. "Keep your eyes on the road, love, wouldn't want an accident, now would we?" Vincent said and took another puff.
"Though, I do know I'm a much better view~." He purred out with a wink. I lightly blushed and laughed with a roll of my eyes, "Whatever." "I know that you're thinking about me in that pretty little head of yours~." He said and nudged my shoulder.
"But, when we get to my secret place, you'll think twice about what is a great view." I stated and he snorted, "You didn't say I'd definitely change my mind. So, I know I'm a the beeeeeest view~!" I just lightly shook my head with a smile.
He'll definitely have to rethink once he sees this.
