y/n's birthday was today and I wanted to surprise her at the office. I held the flowers in my hand smiling. She worked at the World Trade Center which was pretty cool. She had lots of close friends working with her. I wiped my nose from the cold weather hitting my face every few minutes. I walked down the beautiful New York streets admiring the city signs. I heard sirens down the street heading towards y/n's office building. People rushed in front of me as I looked at the collapsed building in front of me. I pushed my hair back dropping the flowers on the floor. My heart dropped, my life flashed before my eyes. I couldn't breathe. Where's y/n? Is she okay? What about all those young innocent people in there. I walked up to the police officer tears running down my face thinking about how much y/n meant to me.

"Where is everyone!?"I yelled as he held me back.

"Sir please stand back" he said calmly.

"No my girlfriends in there" I sobbed uncontrollably trying to get past him.

"Shawn?" I heard a faint voice.

I looked over to find y/n with a blanket wrapped around her. Tears were falling down her cheeks and she looked so relieved to see me. I rushed over to embracing her in the biggest hug.

"Are you okay? Did anybody get hurt? What happened?" I said all at once overwhelmed panting heavily.

I saw bodies being dragged away and my heart dropped again. People stood next to the ambulance trying to hold themselves up from the devastating moment.

"I'm fine just a couple bruises, lots of people are hurt and dead, and terrorists attacked Shawn" she sobbed in my shoulder.

I covered my mouth looking up at the tore down World Trade Center. The sky filled with grey smoke and pieces of the building was spread everywhere. Nothing was the same. All those poor innocent people in there are gone forever and we can never get them back. I wiped the tears from under my eyes letting out a sigh.

"This day will be remembered forever" y/n said looking up into my eyes with little hope in them.
