"Get off me!" I screech and slap at Nate's chest in an attempt to get his body off of mine.
"Autumn please you have to just give me another chance," he growls lowly down at me while fuming.
"I gave you enough now back off," I say firmly.

He looks furious, something you never see an Amity be.
"Nate I have to go pick up my sister," I whisper hoping it will distract him long enough for me to bolt. I take a side step in an attempt to walk away but he slams his arm in front of my face in one harsh movement. I stand there not daring making eye contact with his pale brown eyes that seem to get illuminated when in the sun.
"Let me through," I say cautiously with my eyes trained over his shoulder that leads out of the stables I seem to be trapped in.

He finally whips his arm away from my face and storms out in a way I've never seen him do. I close my eyes and take a deep breathe in hopes of calming my racing heart. Nate and I have been fighting this past month. I don't know what his problem is but I've mustered up all the kindness in my soul and I still can't deal with him, sometimes enough is enough and he crossed that line a long time ago.

Realizing I'm late, I sprint to the bus that goes to the city from Amity seeing that Nate has caused me to fall behind 10 minutes. I find a seat in the back and isolate myself from the chattering Amity, pulling out a sketching notebook I start to draw so people know to leave me alone. I'm soon lost in thought and my drawing and don't even remember where I am.

"Autumn?" someone says across from me. I look up to see a bright eyed and bushy tailed Amity smiling kindly to me and I see that we've arrived at the school, the lady gives a sunny smile my way as she realizes I was in my own little world. I give my best heart warming smile and skip upwards booking it for my little sister's school, well the only school I should say.

When I get out there's a wild pack of dauntless that stampede by and I immediately hear wolf whistles and snarky comments at my appearance. Regretting my choice of wear on a mid thigh sundress and wedges that strap  across my smallish feet I duck my head under my blonde curls in an attempt to hide my beat red face.

Biting my lip I walk faster towards the busy school that I've been to every single day this year. When I see the 7th grade class seeping out of the school I smile while looking at a young teen with blonde curly hair like mine. My younger sister Ryley stands shorter than everyone else in her grade, a smile permanently on her face making her glow.

When she sees me her face lights up like the sun as she skips towards me throwing her arms around me and hugging me tightly in which I react immediately and hug her back, enjoying the moment without Nate. You know as an Amity my life isn't exactly what you'd call all peaceful, there will always be something considered mean no matter how much you try to fix it. Like in Dauntless being mean might be shoving your friend off a cliff, but in Amity being mean is not smiling back and they're almost equally offensive depending on which Faction you're from.
She looks up at me with wide eyes that glimmer in the afternoon light.
"So how'd it go? Did you say yes?" she asks bug eyed.

Confusion washes over me and I can tell she notices.
"Nate?" she says slowly and cautiously.
"Oh um yeah we broke up, kind of," I say at the memory of it. Her jaw nearly drops to the floor.
"Autumn ah oh no," is all she says in the soft voice of hers.

"What? What's wrong?" I ask suddenly concerned.
"Autumn," she starts,"He was going to propose to you." At first the words don't register. Propose? As in, marriage? No Nate isn't that type of guy.

"Wait what?" I question in disbelief.
"I'll tell you about it when we get home," she nods grabbing my hand and leading me towards the bus that will leave any minute. I can't help but want to bombard her with questions and it takes all my self control not to. We walk a block back to the bus station when Ryle takes a turn and crashes into someone quit abruptly. She stumbles back and I catch her before she falls onto her flat on her butt with a tiny grunt.
