Tonight there was a raging unending storm and I got not a wink of sleep, the lightning flashed through my room like a disco ball and the thunder like a song and I couldn't help but wonder what kind of party was happening in heaven. I don't think Eric got a wink of sleep either cause he kept tossing and turning, flopping his pillow and grunting in frustration as each lightning struck and thunder shook. Ryley on the other hand some how slept like a little baby.

When I wake up again Eric is gone and to my surprise so is Ryley.

I get up and quickly change into jods with a white riding shirt that's bound to get dirty. I skip down the stairs and put on my riding boots, ready for another adventurous day with Angus. Today is going to be a work day as Ally, Ky and I call it. Most kids our age don't have a job just help around to get extra cash until they finally find the job they like the most.

Ky, Ally, and I have been saving up since we were 16 for a western saddle so we could go lassoing. Lassoing is the one thing I've been waiting for my whole life, you ride into the wild with a group of people and herd a wild herd of horses back to Amity and then later tame them, and it only happens once every single year. You have to get a western saddle and lasso which costs about 2,000 points and we have to pay for it ourselves says our parents, not that I mind it's good to prove to other people that I don't rely on my parents money with my father being a representative and all.

I finally made enough money last week and Ally and Ky had it around the same time. Today is the day I've been waiting for for years, the day of the Lassoing. I have been signed up for one week and it's a pretty small group so far, David the man who's in charge of it, was so excited when he found out me and my friends could do it that I almost thought he was more excited than we were.

When I go in the kitchen my whole family is there with solemn faces, a rare sight in my house.
"What's wrong?" I ask immediately noticing their downcast faces. My dad walks toward me and takes my hands in his, he only does this when there's bad news, the last time he did this my grandfather had died, yet again I'd only met him once.
"Last night Angus was in the pasture, and the fence caught fire, all the horses in the pasture escaped, we don't know where he is but he ran along with the other horses we saw it all on the footage," my dad explains softly.

I feel numb, like everything that I had was just ripped from me. I feel Sinna's wet nose nudge my hand, and all I do is fall putting all my weight on him. Ryley kneels next to me and hugs my frozen figure then my mom and dad follow quickly in silence.

I just cry onto my dad's shoulder feeling helpless and unable to move. Angus is gone, my horse is gone. Finally after what seems like days my dad picks me up and carries me back to my bed as I sniffle and hiccup.

I lay in my bed tears still streaming down my face when the door swings open. I cover my face with a pillow,"Go away Ally I don't want your pity!" I scream into the pillow. Then I realize the footsteps are way to heavy for my small friend and my head snaps up.

In the same instant the pillow is ripped out of my hands causing me to fly forward off of my bed and onto the floor. The man grips my wrist tightly and that's when I realize the ice cold blue eyes in front of me.

I look down immediately, not able to make his gaze as my eyes are still puffy and I feel humiliation flood my body like a wave.
"Sorry I thought you were someone else," I mumble quietly.
"Look at me when you talk," he repeats his command from earlier. I slowly lift my eyes and his stare makes my heart skip a beat. I don't know what it is about this man but he causes me to feel odd unlike anyone has before.
