My eyes open to be met with my mother's, she sits next to my bed closely with one hand on mine and, when she sees I'm awake she smiles and leans in closer to me.
"Autumn," she says in a soft motherly voice stroking my cheek tenderly.

"Mom? What happened?" I ask rubbing my head which hurts like heck right now.
"Well when you got bucked off of Raven you hit your head pretty hard, it's amazing you were conscious for as long as you were," she says which shocks me as the pulsing continues.

I slowly prop myself up on the bed as a wave of dizziness hits me.
"Where is everyone?" I ask glancing at the empty room.
"Well the dauntless leaders went back to dauntless for some work your sister's in school and your father is also at work," she explains and it takes a minute for the words to sink in. The leaders went back. Yes! Only for a little bit they'll be back, my conscience tells me sourly.

"And David said he's giving you the mustang," my mom squeals and my jaw goes agape,"The buckskin stallion!"
Suddenly I jump up forgetting all about my head and collapse onto the hard bed when sudden nausea hits me.
"Careful there dear, but you should go say hi to him," she smiles and helps me up from my not so comforting bed.

We go to the pastures and my mom leaves me alone with the mustang for 'bonding' time. He is such a beautiful horse, black creeps up his legs and snout while an orange-tan color covers the rest of his body. I hop over the fence and approach him cautiously knowing a wild mustang's nature and their fear of humans.

I reach out to touch him but he whinnies which sounds more like a scream and storms away from my grasp. We repeat this process for about 30 minutes straight, him not even letting me touch him all while running away in an angry fit. Finally I get up and am about to walk away when he steps in front of me, stopping me.

He lifts his head up and down and approaches me, that's when I realize this was all a game to him.
"Hey there boy," I say slowly, he walks closer until our faces are inches apart. I look into his beautiful black eyes. And when I look in them I see my own soul. It was like looking in a mirror, and at that moment I decide to name him Spirit.

"Spirit," I mutter and when the words leave my mouth he leans his head and touches mine. I lift my hands and pet his mane and brush through it with my fingers getting caught in it's roughness.

Then I throw a blanket over his back and he stands still for a few moments. I slowly pull myself up on his back making sure not to startle him, a grin spreads across my face as I realize what I've just accomplished.

When I'm on his back I sit there in triumph my arms raised above my head in happiness. Then out of no where Spirit bolts away making me fall on the ground right on my butt. After hours and hours, of falling off training and more falling off it starts to get late and I remember I have to pick my sister up from school.

I sprint as fast as I can move my legs to the bus and right as I get to the station I see it's small build zooming away out of my sight. I'll have to ride Angus instead I guess. I run to the stables and take him out yanking him in the process. I hop on him bareback and break out into a gallop knowing I can't be late or some creeps might take my sister. A little extreme but as an older sister you have to think of every scenario.

We ride over fallen lamp posts and street lights when we suddenly get close to the dauntless headquarters. I start to get anxious and push Angus to go faster.

Then suddenly the scent of  something odd, like a strange type of gas or fume fills my nose and consumes me, the scent gets stronger and stronger as we push through the deranged smell. My legs became lead and my head spins, darkness consumes me like water and I watch as the world around me turns to nothing.
