Chapter 5

The sound of a car moving towards us came from behind me, I turn around to see one of the police four wheel drives parking near the gate surrounding the place where the Hale household should be standing.

"Excuse me young man and woman" The sweet looking officer walks over to us.

"You're calling them young man and woman?" The officer who instantly came off as an asshole asked his partner.

"Shut up Haigh, sorry but you can't be here" The officer says, who I look at his badge that says Parrish.

"Sorry officer, I just arrive, finding my friend like this, this place means a lot to him" I say sweetly to Parrish.

"Hey dumb ass ever hear of trespassing?" The officer Haigh states.

I roll my eyes.

"This is my house" Derek tells the officers, kneeling down looking at the wood in front of him.

"Nobody has been here for years kid, now get out" Officer Haigh says to Derek harshly and I look over my shoulder to him.

"Haigh, maybe a slightly more gentler touch" Officer Parrish says "Are you alright, we can help you if something is wrong" Parrish says nicely.

"He can't find his parents, his family does own the house, Derek was away and this is what has been left behind" I say to Parrish sadly.

"What happened to my house" Derek states sadly not understanding what is happening.

"It's okay Derek" I say kneeling down next to him.

"Madison where's my family, where's my mother" Derek says looking to me with puppy dog eyes.

"Alright let's go" Officer Haigh says pulling Derek and I apart and forcing his to our feet by our clothing, Derek spins around and grabs his arm holding him and forcing Haigh to let me go.

I fall onto Parrish who holds onto me "Alright calm down" Parrish states to Derek, causing Derek to turn around and look at the two of us with a red face and glassy eyes.

I watch officer Haigh pull out a taser gun and turn it on "No don't!" I shout but it was too late, Haigh presses it into Derek's side and takes it off and presses back into his chest repeatedly, hurting Derek.

"Haigh stand down!" Officer Parrish shouts.

"Derek!" I cry out.

I watch Derek slump to the ground and I grab onto Parrish.

"Haigh what are you doing! You don't put the law in this kind of situation!" Parrish shouts at his partner.

"He is a trouble kid, he needed to be taught a lesson" Haigh states simply, placing his taser away.

"You don't deserve to be a police officer!" I shout at him furious.

"Watch yourself little lady" Haigh says rudely.

"Come with me, we need to take your friend back to the station anyway, and don't worry you're not in trouble, you can support your friend" Parrish says to me kindly.

"Thank you" I say smiling.

Once we have arrived at the station they hand cuff Derek to the chair, while the officers scan through their computers looking up the kid in front of them. Sitting next to Derek I was looking through my spell book, I look outside to see Eagle on a nearby tree, I look up to see Parrish walking over to us and I close my book, he kneels down and looks between Derek and I "The other deputy thinks I'm an idiot for even asking, but I have a feeling if I take these cuffs off you're going to be okay, and I think you can help us figure out what happened to your family so we can get you out of here" Parrish says to Derek seriously but with a gentle tone "Am I right?"
