Miranda's pov
I walk by the window of my favorite store, while holding my five year old daughter Sierra's hand. I get on the bus, picking her up and trying to find a seat. The bus suddenly lurches forward and I fall into someone's seat right on their lap! Oh man! How embarassing! I stand up. "I'm so sorry, sir!" I gasp. "It's okay ma'am, this bus is pretty crowded, you can sit here with me." He says, smiling. We get to my house and the guy waves. I go inside and lean against the door. I can't believe I fell into that guy's lap! That was so embarassing.
Jason's pov
Wow, well it isn't every day a hot girl falls in your lap. Better I already know where she lives. This is going to be fun. I'm gonna go ask her out.
Sierra's pov
Our doorbell rings as I'm sitting on the steps. She was getting ready to go out on a date with somebody new. Momma's been wondering if she'd ever meet someone who didn't find out about me and then turn around and run. She answers the door but it's not the guy she was gonna go out with. It's the guy from the bus. He's smiling with flowers. "Hey, ya wanna catch a movie?" He says, handing her the flowers. "Wow, th-this is such a nice surprise." She says. He glances in seeing me. "Ya wanna come too cowgirl?" He asks. My eyes go wide. Mom's going to the movies and for once I get to go. I jump up, running to the door before he changes his mind. "What's your name, Cutie?" "I'm Sierra." I say, holding my mom's hand. "This is a pretty blind date. You don't even know my name." Mom says, teasingly. He smiles. "Well, where are my manners? My name is Jason and you are?" "Miranda." She says, shaking his hand. Mom's never looked so nervous before.
Miranda's pov
I pick Sierra up and we go watch a movie at the theater. He holds my hand. It's so nice of him. After all I did fall in his lap.
*after the movie*
"Why did ya do this for me?" I ask, after laying Sierra in her bed. "I like you and it's not every day a hot girl falls in your lap." He says, holding my hand and kissing it. "You're not at all worried that I already have a daughter?" "No, why would I be?" "Every other time, they've run away when they found out I had a kid." He smiles. "That won't be me." He says. I hug him. I've wanted someone like that for so long.
*the next day*
Jason's pov
I'm not too excited about the idea that she has a kid but the sweetheart has grown on me and now I don't want someone else taking care of her or her mom. I text her asking if I can take Sierra to daycare. She replies back with sure. I drive over there and she's waiting outside. I smile. I put her car seat in my car. "I'd love it if you'd be my girlfriend." I say, holding Miranda's hand. "I'd love to. I've been looking for a guy like you for so long." I kiss her on the lips. "But I don't want a guy coming into Sierra's life just to run out." "I won't run out. You can count on that." I get in my truck and we're parked in front of the daycare. "Can I call you daddy?" She asks, catching me off guard. I get out and unbuckle her. "Do you have a daddy?" "No, he left us a long time ago." "I guess you can but I don't know how your mama will take it." She shrugs and goes to the daycare. Oh man, she wants to call me dad! What did I get myself into?
Sierra's pov
I look out the window as he pulls away. I met the man I call my dad when I was five years old. He took my mom out to a movie and for once I got to go. It's been so long since I felt that. My teacher calls my name so I go do what she wants.
Jason's pov
I go back to her house. "Hey honey, Sierra wants to call me dad. And I'm not sure how to respond to it." Her eyes go wide. "I hope it doesn't make you feel uncomfortable." "No it's fine with me. I just didn't know how you'd react." "As long as you're cool with it, I'm cool with it." I smile and kiss her again. "What do ya say, we go on a date just us today?" "I'd love that." She goes to get ready. I take my hat off and fix my hair. I'd love to go hatless but I know people will notice me and I want to have a quiet evening with my new girlfriend. I put a ball cap on just as she comes down the stairs.
*a few weeks later*
I wonder how they're gonna take it finding out I have to go on tour. I open the door. "Hey hun, we have something to discuss." The house is silent and empty. "Hm? Where are they?" I hear laughing out back. I walk out there and they're playing tag. I smile and watch them from the porch. Sierra looks over and sees me. "Daddy!" She cries, running over. It's still kinda weird her calling me that but I'll have to deal with it. I pick her up. "Me, you, and Mommy need to talk." I say. She walks over. "You know I'm a country singer right?" I ask Sierra. She nods. "And I have to go on tour. Do you know what that means?" "A museum?" We both laugh. "No silly. When I go on tour, I go to cities and sing for people." She starts crying. "Whoa, honey, what's wrong!?" I gasp, confused. She reaches for Miranda so I hand her over. "You're leaving!" She whimpers. "I'm going to come back though, sweetheart. I promise." I say. "That's what my first daddy said but he never came back!" She yells angrily. Oh no. "I'm not your old daddy. I'm your new daddy. I'm going to come back Sierra. I promise." She looks over, sniffling. "Cross your heart and hope to die?" She asks. I smile. "Yeah, cross my heart and hope to die." I say, doing it. She finally smiles. I hug them both. "I'm gonna lay her down for a nap." She says, walking inside. I follow. A few minutes later, she comes back out. "You promise you'll come back?" She asks. I smile and hug her. "I will. And I'll Skype y'all. Don't be afraid." I say, holding her in my arms. I kiss her.
*the next day*
I hug my girls goodbye and get on my tour bus. I'm sure gonna miss them but I'm going to come back.
