"So you can't talk? Like at all?" Michael questioned.
Ashton nodded.
After almost two weeks I had convened Ashton to come sit with us. His eyes changed that same gray color when I asked. There was something different about him and I was determined to find out.
Ashton wrote something on his notepad.
I'm mute. I have been since I was 14 years old.
"Woah." Calum said.
Ashton just nodded.
It was quiet.
"Ashton! Your eyes just changed color!" Michael gasped.
Ashton blushed
They do that..
"You are different Ashton." Calum said.
Is that a bad thing?
"I don't know yet." Calum said.

I had been trying to get Ashton to come to my house all day. Every time I would ask his eyes would flash gray. I seen him at his locker. I was about to walk over and ask him again when someone walked up to him. I stopped and watched to see what would happen. I couldn't hear what was being said by the boy, but the next thing I knew Ashton was thrown against the lockers. The boy who pinned him was screaming rude comments to him. I dropped my things and ran to them.
"What's wrong with you!?" I yelled pushing the boy off Ashton.
I seen a new color in his eyes that day...
Yellow, like sunshine.
"Who are you? His boyfriend?"
I stood over the boy but he didn't seem scared of me.
"I'm his friend not his boyfriend." I said.
"You got lucky this time Irwin." The boy said and walked away.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
Ashton nodded.
"Come on, let's go to my house."
Ashton smiled and his eyes flashed gray. I was determined. I was going to find out what his eye colors meant and why they changed.
