The hand knocks on the glass again, this time with more strength. I just stare. Is this some epic fail of an attempt to murder me? I walk up to the window and open it, yes if I was in a horror movie I would've just made the worst decision of my life. Luckily, if I was in a movie, it would be a drama. Why am I rambling about this? I'm not in a movie.

I stare down and see Kyle half up the wall. "What are you doing?"

"Can you just let me in first?" I pull him up and into the room.

"Damn you're heavy."

"It's all muscle." He comments snidely, "There's a gathering out at the bonfire zone. It's strictly invite only, but because I'm amazing I got a plus one."

"Why didn't you just come through the front door?"

"Only wimps use doors."

He goes to the window and then gestures for me to follow, "Well c'mon. Aren't you coming?"

We climb out the window and I follow Kyles lead. We walk through the field and the forest where the rock climbing wall is. After about twenty minutes of walking, we make it to a clearing.

I can't believe no teachers know about this. Timber tossed in the middle of a circle made of teenagers, is on fire and there is music playing somewhere too. Almost everyone has a drink in their hands. Kyle and I walk to the centre where a wooden table holds a few bottles of alcohol.

Kyle pours himself a cup and offers me one but I refuse. "I don't drink, Kyle."

"You don't drink? I'm not surprised. I won't pressure you, don't worry." He takes a few sips.

"Don't get drunk. I swear I won't ever talk to you again."

"I won't." He says and puts the cup down, already emptied. "I promise."

Someone bumps into Kyle from behind and I recognize the person as Sierra. "Hey Kristen."

"Hey Sierra. Are you with Josh?"

"Yeah. I didn't know you were coming."

"She's with me." Kyle says and drapes his arm over my shoulders.

"Anyways," She steps forward and pours herself a cup, mixing two different bottles. Then she starts walking away and heads to the bonfire, "Are you coming?"

I shrug and look up at Kyle, then we follow her towards the bonfire. There are logs surrounding it and Josh sits at one with a guitar in his lap. He tunes it by ear and then sets it down beside him. "Do you play guitar Josh?" I ask.

"He does. He's amazing. Absolutely amazing. He's a natural talent." Sierra says and sits by his side.

"Hey, don't have any more." He tells her softly and takes her cup, pouring it on to the grass behind him.

"Umph." She says, rolling her eyes.

"Play something." I request. Josh brings the guitar to him and starts strumming an unfamiliar tune.

"This is the first song I ever learnt. You guys probably won't know it-"

Out of nowhere Kyle starts singing. God, his voice is beautiful. It's clear and deep and rich. The whole time I just stared with my mouth open in silence. Josh kept strumming but I'm sure he was shocked too. When the song ends and Kyle opens his eyes, I can still feel all the emotion he put in that song. It's weird.

"Where did you learn to sing like that?" Josh says, surprised.

"I used to sing with my mum a lot."
