~Chapter 15~

Chapter 15~The hospital

~Niall's POV~

The doctor comes in and I don't really expect good news. I can't feel the feeling inside of me. I know there is something wrong.

"Are you a friend of Zayn's?" The doctor asks Liam and Liam nods. "Well... He survived, but he is in coma. You can go see him if you want to, but he is still unstable. He can die every moment. We could pump the pills from his stomach and their effect is out of his body, but he lost a lot of blood."

A silent tear slides down Liam's cheek, but I can only be happy that Zayn is still alive. He still has a chance. A smile lights up my face as I follow Liam to the room Zayn is him.

As we arrive there, the smile falls from my face. Zayn lays in the hospital bed, but I almost don't recognize him. He's pale, has dark bags under his eyes and looks so small. He's attached to a lot of wires and machines. One of them is his heart monitor which is beeping slowly.

Well, at least he is still alive.

Liam walks over to the bed and takes Zayn's hand.

"God, Zayn? Why did you do this? Why would you leave this life behind? I know I didn't speak to you much anymore, but I'm so sorry about that. I'm sorry. I wish I had seen how you were planning this. I wish I talked with you more these last three months. I feel like this is my fault. I feel so guilty. All I saw was Harry and I forgot about you. I'm so sorry Zayn! Please wake up!" Liam is crying now.

At least he was able to say something to Zayn. To touch Zayn. I wish I can do that. I wish I can take his hand and beg for him to wake up. Tell him that I'm still here and never left his side the last months.

But I can't. What if he never wakes up again? What if he goes to heaven and I will stay here. I never can love someone as much as I love Zayn. Never.

Suddenly another doctor walks in. "Are you Liam? A friend of Zayn's?" He asks Liam and he nods.

"This letters were found in Zayn's bedroom. One of them has your name on it. I guess you want to read it." The doctor says and after he handed Liam the letters, he leaves the room again.

I watch as Liam opens the letter and starts to read it. When he finishes it he is crying harder than before.

Liam turns to Zayn again ans shakes his head.

"Why did't you just tell me Zayn? I could have helped you. I could have stopped you from doing this. Look at yourself now. You can still die and what will I do without you? You are my best friend Zayn. I don't want you to die." Liam says and then buries his head in his hands, muttering some things I can't understand.

"Liam!" I hear someone shout and when I look at the door I see a worried looking Harry. He walks in the room and hugs a crying Liam.

"Shhh, love. He's going to be okay." He whispers into Liam's ear after he pulled him on his lap.

"No, Harry. Look at him. He looks so... Weak. I don't think he's going to make it. He has to fight to stay alive, but I got his letter. He wants to die! He won't fight death."

I watch the couple and can't help but feel jealous. They can have a relationship I can't have. Liam is right. Zayn won't fight to live.

But there still is a chance.

Hope is all I have left.

They say that time seems to slow down in dark periods. And it's true, after an hour, which had seemed like ages, Harry and Liam stand up, ready to go home. The sun is slowly disappearing behind the skyline and a nurse had told them the visiting hours were over.

They say there goodbye's to Zayn, knowing that it might be the last time. Then they start to walk out of the room, while I float after them

~Zayn's POV~

I wake up and everything I see is white. Not like in a hospital room, just... white. It's like there is no room, but I'm not outside either. I'm standing on a floor, but when I look down their is nothing under my feet.

Is this what heaven looks like? 'cause I'm pretty sure I'm dead.

Suddenly I hear a laugh go through the room. "You're not death, Zayn." A males voice says. I look around the space, but see no one.

"Who are you? Where are you?" It's pretty weird talking to a stranger you can't see.

"It's not important to know who I am or where we are. I brought you here because I wanted to talk with you. It took me a lot of energy to make this room and bring you here and I don't have much time so listen closely." The voice says again.

"Okay." I say. He sounds pretty serious about this.

"I know about your relationship with Niall." I gasp when I hear Niall's name, but the voice keeps explaining. "I know you killed yourself to be with him, but he didn't go to the darkness. It exists, yes, but he didn't go there. In fact, he stayed by your side all the time. The only thing that changed is that you can't see him anymore. I'm trying to help you, so instead of letting you die, like Someone wants you to, I want to give you another chance. I made a deal with God and I'm still working on it, but I want to help you and Niall. I'm trying to get you together. When you wake up, you will be able to see Niall for ten minutes. After that he will be back to being invisible to you, but know that he will be there with you all the time." Then a sigh sounds through the space. "That's all, I'm going to wake you up now."

After he said these words, black dots are appearing in front of my eyes again.

"Wait! why are you helping?" I call and just before everything gets black I can hear the stranger's voice one more time.

"I have some things to make up."

Then everything goes black.

I open my eyes and again I see white. Only this time I know it's the hospital room.

I sit up straight in the bed and look around. I see Liam and Harry, who are about to leave the room, but behind them, I can see the blond angel I've been longing to see since three months.

"Niall!" I scream.

Three pair of eyes turn to look at me. Each of them express the same. First confusion, then shock and then happiness.

And before I knew it I'm in the middle of a groups hug.
