Chapter 19

…………………………………………………………………………………..

RECAP :

I heard Pete’s words in my head,  He’s worth the risk .

I held out my hand and felt how seamlessly our hands seemed to fit.

“ Hey.”

“Hey, you”

“You ready Daisy?” Ari asked smiling and I saw his eyes flicker down to my cowboy boots momentarily.

“Let me just take these off”,

I kicked them off, picking them up with my free hand. “Now I’m ready” I said, unable to hold the grin from my face as we began walking down the wooden path to the beach hand in hand.

…………………………………………………………………………………..

As we walked down the path, the early afternoon sun beat down on us, and I couldn’t help feeling completely and utterly happy.

I’d graduated high school, summer was here … stretched in front to enjoy with Ari.

I had to wait for the university letters of acceptance or rejection to arrive in a week or so, which has me mildly freaked, but I could already tell that Ari being back was probably going to distract me….

Yep, Ari always made for  fun, unintentionally distracting me or not.

I was really looking forward to spending the summer with him, from what he’d said, he didn’t have any immediate work lined up.

Soon the flat wooden path came to an end, turning into stairs that led down on to the light sandy beach. I couldn’t help but grin, this beach held some of my best memories and I loved it. Ari squeezed my hand slightly, and I knew he was just as happy to be here as me.

“ Try not to trip klutz” Ari quipped as we started down the stairs.

I stuck my tongue out in a very mature response.“Don’t worry if I go down your coming with me”

“ Yeah, like that time you face planted down those dunes back there last year” He jerked his head the right of the beach where a bank of sandy dunes enclosed the side.

“ Pulling me with you so I got a mouth full of sand!”

“ Everyone knows you don’t keep your mouth open when you roll down dunes! It’s Common sense. And I did not face plant; it was a strategically planned descent!” I said, unhooking our hands and shoving him slightly.

Annoyingly he didn’t even stumble to the side … damn his new muscles!

Ari laughed, “ yeah you strategically fell backwards, arms flailing”-
