**Natalie POV**
Professor Griffin looks at his watch for a moment.
"Well there isn't much time left of class so let's just call this a clean slate and tomorrow we will begin with some amazing literature, eh?"
Whispers and groans spread around the class like wildfire.
The bell rang suddenly and students shuffle out of the room fairly quickly. I wish I was one of them.
As I put my stuff away, Naomi touches my shoulder, making me look up. "Hang in there. I'm sure he's not that bad" she says.
I try to hold my anger from her since I can clearly see the pity in her eyes and reply with a "Yeah" before she heads out the door.
Alright torture time. Yay...
I gather my things and join Professor whatshisface down the steps to begin helping out. I kneel down and begin picking up papers, making sure I don't make any eye contact with him. After about 20 minutes of what he must think is irritable silence he finally breaks it.
"I'm sorry" he starts.
Hmm, an apology. That's a first from a teacher.
"Look if you keep ignoring me I'll just give you a bigger punishment for not participating".
At that statement I looked up to glare at him. I'm pretty sure he got the message.
"Ok so you definitely don't like that" he confirmed.
"Well I don't think anyone wants to get threatened!" I burst out.
"True, just let me explain".
I cross my arms. "Go on".
He goes to sit at his desk and motions me to sit next to him. "Now as you know, this is first day teaching here. But what you don't know is that this is my first teaching job. Ever. I needed to make a first impression".
"And yelling at me is a good impression"!?
I should really shut up but I can't help myself.
"Honestly that was a very bitchy move" I say but soon realize how rude that was. My eyes widen. Crap, more punishment.
He ponders for a moment until he replies with "You're lucky I still feel bad that you got in trouble".
I let out a small smile. Maybe Naomi was right, he doesn't seem that bad after all.
After 20 more minutes of cleaning, we finally finished. The classroom wasn't really that dirty anyway, I don't know why Mr. Moody thought otherwise.
"Do you need a pass"?
"No Professor Wha...Griffin that's ok" I reply, quick to fix my mistake. "I have a free period so I'm just gonna get some food with Naomi or something".
"Alright well I'll see you tomorrow after class then".
"Wait, for what"? I question.
"I meant what I said when I wasn't going to tolerate tardiness. The class needs to know I stand my ground".
I cross my arms and say "Whatever you say dog shit" under my breath as I leave the class.
"As I head to the parking lot I don't see my car and start to panic. It's ok Natalie maybe you're just in the wrong area. I head towards the opposite direction but again I still don't see my car. Oh my gosh my car got stolen! My life's over! I look in my purse to see if I have my car keys and sure enough they've disappeared.
Taking a deep breath, I think about my options : I could go to the library and wait there until my next class. Nah. Or I could report that my car got stolen, although that would take a lot of paperwork and time. Nah.
As I ponder on this as someone touches my shoulder.
"Are you looking for something"?
I turn around to see Professor Griffin with a curious look on his face, probably why I seem so panicked.
"Yeah umm my car, I think it got stolen" I quietly say.
"Well do you remember where you parked it?
I bite down the frustration that is simmering throughout my body because we just got on good terms and I know he's just trying to help. But could he ask a more stupid question? Of course I know where I parked my car, now it's not there anymore.
He takes note that I don't answer and tries again. "What kind of car is it"?
"It's a Honda Civic" I reply. Man I really hope someone didn't steal it, that was my first car. I took care of it, since it's the only one I'll be getting for a while. My mom couldn't afford to get me a new one, so she got me a used one. I know she worked really hard to save up to get me it for my birthday, so I cherish it deeply.
"Was there anyone that was in the car with you today"?
I mentally slap myself on the head. Of course! Naomi must've taken the keys out of my purse before she left class. That bitch, she left me here with this dumb ass teacher who's a hunk... Woah let's not think about that. Eww.
"Yeah Naomi left with me this morning". I groaned. "Ugh now I don't have a ride"!
"Actually I think you do". Professor Griffin points to the direction of the road and sure enough Naomi is driving my car while simultaneously dancing to the music. She drives up to Professor Griffin and I.
"Well thanks for keeping me company I guess" I say, itching to get in the car, but not wanting to leave an awkward silence between us.
"Of course anytime" he says.
I get in the car and wave at him until he finally disappears into the school. Now I can finally get some business done.
I slap Naomi across her arm and she in effect holds the very spot where I touched her.
"You bitch! Why did you just leave me here when you know I have a free period? And you took the keys to my car!"
"Oh relax, I didn't even go far. I just went to get some coffee, I didn't have much of a breakfast. You were cleaning up the classroom with Professor G., which btw seems to be really getting really cozy with you". She moves her eyebrows.
"Oh shut up, he is not getting "cozy" with me. He's my professor, that's disgusting" I objected.
"Disgustingly amazing. C'mon Nat you know he's hot".
"Don't change the subject" I scolded.
Naomi looked at me with sad eyes and spoke in her famous baby voice.
"Pwease don't be mad at me Natalie. I sowwy". She holds up a bag to me. "I brouwt you a muffin".
Damn it she's buttering me up with...muffins. How ironic. I can't stay mad at her though. That face get's me every time.
I take a breath. "Fine you're forgiven".
I immediately get bombarded with a hug. "Yay!! So what do you want to do"?
"I don't know you're the one driving. Take us to our destination".
