"You should just convert to I don't give a fuck-ism. It's been quite helpful to me these past years in highschool." Nick said while pushing his lunch into my face. "It's made me how do you say zen?" He says while crossing his fingers in a meditation form.

Nicholas has been my friend ever since we were kids. Honestly, he's my only friend. We live the same lifestyle so I guess it's only natural that we'd be attracted to each other. When I was a baby my parents put me up for adoption and when nobody wanted me I went to the Rexo.

Rexo is an orphanage across town, kids of different backgrounds and ethnicities lived here. When I got older I was allowed to sleep on the older kids floor. Which was what I assumed to be cool but it wasn't at all. The older girls weren't very fond of me and decided to use me as their minion. In order to gain their acceptance I did some things I'm not quite proud of.

One day, I was outside in the field playing with my dolls that someone had donated for Christmas. I guess you could say I was happy, that someone cared. Some girls had come out of the house and snatched the dolls out of my hands and tore their heads off. I guess it wasn't meant for me to be happy.

I knew what was coming after this, it'd happen so many times before I was used to it. They'd come and mess with me and when they were done they'd beat me up. When our caretaker Angela asked what happened to me; I would always respond with I fell down the stairs. Or some other story that was completely believable.

But this one day I knew that if I let this continue, I'd go through life letting them beat me up. But what could I say or do, they were bigger than me and stronger than me. I set my hands in my lap, closed my eyes tightly and waited for the oncoming blow. "If you touch her again I swear, I'll beat you so bad Angela won't know wether to take you to the hospital or bury you right there." I heard a voice say.

I kept my eyes shut as tears ran down my face. "Are you okay?" The voice asked again. I opened them and wiped the tears away to see the girls nowhere. Standing in front of me was the most important person in my life today. Nicholas. "Yes, I'm f-fine." I stuttered while getting off the ground and wiping the dirt from my fingers.

"You sure?" He said while helping me wipe dirt off my dress. "Thank you." I said while quickly wrapping my arms around him. He might've thought I was crazy but I didn't care. I pulled away and stuck out my hand. "I'm natalia." I said. "Nicholas." He responded while shaking my hand.

From that day on, we were connected. Two peas in a pod.

"Earth to Talia, man I swear sometimes you creep me out when you zone out like that." Nicholas said while shaking his head. "I'm sorry what were you saying?" I apologized while taking one of his French fries and eating it.

"I'm going to ask Farrah out today." He said while staring lovingly at her from across the lunchroom. "Don't Nicky, she's a total bitch." I said with annoyance. "She could be my bitch." He said while getting up and throwing his tray away. There he goes once again, pursuing girls who are never right for him.

So this is just a story I'd thought about but I'm not really feeling it. But if you guys are I guess I could continue it. Details though.

Natalia is African American and 16 years old and a junior.

Nicholas is Caucasian and 17, he's a senior.

There are more main characters in this story I just thought I'd get their backstory out of the way.
