"2 days in this flippin country and you're already cry calling me?" she asked as she entered my room.

I just stayed silent as she walked towards me and set beside me on the bed.

"What the fuck happened?" she asked me.

I looked at her and felt tears flowing from my eyes again.

"He's leaving me," I said.

"Who is?" she asked.

"Nate," I replied as I sobbed.

"Wait what?" she said, clearly not understanding what I was saying so I told her everything.

"He is a bloody asshole," she said looking about ready to kill someone.

"Well, you can't blame him for not wanting that kind of life. I mean, I don't want this kind of life but I'm stuck here... like this. I think it's best for him to leave," I said but I knew I was just lying to myself.

"So, let's be clear here. You asked your mother and his mother to agree to your deal that you will be engaged in 5 years' time," she said. "But, there's no backing out."

"Yes," I said.

"So you'll still be engaged to him after 5 years and he's not allowed to cancel the whole thing?" she asked.

"Yes," I replied again.

"But then, why would you still delay it even if it's still going to happen in the future?" she asked, clearly confused with the whole idea.

"Well, I figured we both needed time--especially Nate," I said. "We're still too young now and I guess Nate needs his freedom for a longer time."

"What if..," she started. "Nevermind."

"What?" I asked.

"I mean, what if he doesn't want to marry you in 5 years' time?" she asked hesitantly.

I was shocked that I didn't think of that before and I contemplated the possibility in my mind.

"I... I don't know," I admitted, not really knowing what to say. "I guess, when I proposed that deal, I assumed that he would still want to be with me."

"Did you ask him about it? Have you talked to him?" she asked.

"Not really, no," I said.

She looked at me with sad eyes and said, "Not to sound cynical and make you feel bad even more, but does he love you?"

"He said that he did," I replied.

She just smiled sadly at me and we both sat on the bed silently. I had a lot of things in my mind that I think I might just go crazy

"You know what you need?" she asked with a huge grin on her face.

"A bottle of wine?" I asked with a smile.

"No," she said as she rolled her eyes. "You need to watch The Notebook!"

"How very... normal," I commented.

"Yes! Now come on! Up, up!" she said enthusiastically. "No time for moping, we have to watch Ryan Gosling!"

"Alright, alright," I said with a chuckle as I stood up as well.
